Trade Protection in Steam
Steam’s latest update introduced Trade Protection for CS2 items, significantly changing trading rules.
1. What is Trade Protection and how does it work?
Trade Protection is a new security system for CS2 items that:
- Applies a 7-day protection from selling on the Steam Community Market, and modifications (e.g., applying stickers, using charms, opening cases, etc.)
- Allows reversing any trade within the last 7 days if the account was compromised/scammed. Reversing returns items to their original owner. Important: After canceling trades, the account receives a 30-day ban on trading and using the Steam Community Market.
2. How does this affect trades on CS.MONEY?
- Trades via CS.MONEY bots remain safe since they use an automated system, and cancellation from our side is impossible.
- P2P trades (between players) can now be canceled (reversed): If one party cancels the deal within 7 days, the other participant loses the received items and gets their own back.
- Market balance withdrawals after sales now take 8 days to avoid cancellation risks.
- “Instant Sell” works in the CS.MONEY mobile app as well, but purchasing with Market balance is only available in the browser version.
3. Can I use items with active Trade Protection?
Yes, items can be used in CS2, but with restrictions:
- You cannot apply/remove stickers, name tags, charms, or use them in contracts.
- After 7 days, the protection lifts, and items can be freely sold, traded, or modified.
4. What to do if your account is hacked and items are stolen?
- Recover your account via Steam Support.
- Go to Trade History and cancel suspicious trades using Trade Protection.
- Note: Canceling will revert all trades within 7 days, including legitimate ones.
5. Can Trade Protection be manually disabled?
No, the system is automatically applied to all CS2 items.Got questions? Contact CS.MONEY support!
