Who is organizing CS2 Shanghai Major in China?

The primary organizer for the Shanghai tournament is the Chinese company Perfect World, marking its debut Major for CS2. It’s no surprise that Perfect World has partnered with PGL, which is known for hosting several major events, including the PGL Major Copenhagen. The two companies have a three-year strategic partnership, with PGL responsible for the English-language broadcast.

Who will participate in the next CS2 Major?

With a month to go until the tournament, the participant list is still unknown. RMR tournaments in November will serve as qualifiers. They will all be on LAN in Shanghai, so the teams won’t travel somewhere else if they qualify.

We can expect twenty-four participants in the tournament. Here are the regional quotas:

  • Europe: 14 teams (8 will start the tournament from the Elimination Stage)
  • Asia: 3 teams
  • Americas: 7 teams

The slots distribution among regions depends on the teams’ performance in the previous Major. At PGL Major Copenhagen, Asia and the Americas claimed three slots from Europe. Therefore, teams play not only for themselves but also for their regional scene.

Asia-Pacific RMR Participants (November 11-13, three major spots on the line)

  • The MongolZ
  • FlyQuest
  • Rare Atom
  • Lynn Vision
  • DRILLAS
  • GR Gaming
  • Talon
  • Alter Ego

The MongolZ and FlyQuest are favorites, while the third spot is up for grabs. Fans are especially rooting for DRILLAS, aided by popular streamer Ohnepixel. You can read more about his journey and impact on the RMR here.

American RMR Participants (November 12-15, seven major spots on the line)

  • FURIA Esports
  • Team Liquid
  • PaiN Gaming
  • Complexity Gaming
  • M80
  • 9z Team
  • MIBR
  • Legacy
  • Imperial Team
  • Wildcard
  • BESTIA
  • Nouns Esports
  • RED Canids
  • KRU Esports
  • Boss
  • Case Esports

These teams will compete in a Swiss format, with an elimination round for those with a 3-2 record. Predicting Swiss stage favorites is challenging, as the initial two rounds are Best-of-1, which often leads to surprises.

European RMR A Participants (November 17-20, seven major spots on the line)

  • Natus Vincere
  • Team Vitality
  • FaZe Clan
  • MOUZ
  • SAW
  • Team Falcons
  • Sangal Esports
  • BetBoom Team
  • Fnatic
  • GamerLegion
  • Nemiga
  • Cloud9
  • SINNERS Esports
  • Dynamo Eclot
  • Rebels Gaming
  • Unity Esports

One key storyline here is s1mple’s return to a top tournament with Team Falcons, which has struggled lately with four losses and no maps won in seven tries. However, they have around three weeks to regroup and improve.

European RMR B Participants (November 21-24, seven major spots on the line)

  • G2 Esports
  • Team Spirit
  • Virtus.pro
  • Eternal Fire
  • Heroic
  • Astralis
  • BIG
  • 3DMAX
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • B8
  • Aurora Gaming
  • Passion UA
  • PARIVISION
  • 9Pandas
  • Sashi Esport
  • TSM

RMR B is more balanced, with significant attention on Astralis following their addition of CadiaN and the controversy at the BLAST Premier. Several teams here will be aiming to make a statement, and exciting matches are expected.

What will be the prize pool of the next CS2 Major?

As with the PGL Major Copenhagen, this event will feature a $1,250,000 million prize pool. The champion will receive $500,000, while teams eliminated in the opening stage will split $10,000. Much of the revenue for teams will come from stickers that all Major participants receive, ensuring the prize pool doesn’t add unnecessary pressure, allowing for some thrilling competition, where players give their all on the server.

Exciting times lie ahead! Stay tuned with CS.MONEY Blog, as we bring you the most valuable materials from the world of Counter-Strike 2.
