CS2 July 1 Update: Team Falcons Stickers and Mirage Easter Egg

This morning, Valve hyped us up with a small content update. Even though the changelog is super short, the CS.MONEY Blog has plenty to break down. Here’s everything included in the July 1 CS2 update.

If you have extra skins, sell them on CS.MONEY! You’ll be able to withdraw cash, which is always good.

Let’s start with Valve officially releasing the Team Falcons champion stickers. Just like in previous Majors, the five player autographs from the winning team have returned with a special “Champions” label.

These Championship Stickers scratch exactly the same way as the regular versions. The circular border and the “Champions” text disappear, while the player’s autograph stays. That means once the sticker reaches around 70% wear or higher, there’s almost no visible difference between the regular and Championship versions.

There is one interesting question, though. In previous years, half of the revenue from the Championship Capsule went directly to the Major winners, which made sense since only the champions were featured. Does that mean sales of these stickers will go only to Team Falcons players, or will the revenue be shared with everyone? Valve hasn’t provided any clarification.

Valve has also added highlight charms from the tournament. Compared to previous Majors, there are two welcome improvements.

  1. Now every stage of the tournament has its own highlight charms instead of only the playoffs.
  2. Just like with the stickers, you can now buy the exact highlight you want instead of relying on random drops.

Valve has also significantly reduced the number of available charms. There are only 61 this time instead of the several hundred from previous tournaments. The most expensive highlight at launch is Magixx’s clutch quad kill against G2 Esports…

…and that highlight even received its own in-game easter egg.

Players can now find four cans of Magic tomato paste on Mirage, referencing Magixx’s memorable play.

Technically, it’s not a graffiti in the traditional Counter-Strike sense, but it is the first Major-themed esports easter egg added directly to a CS2 map. Now we’re just waiting for Boris to change his nickname to mag1xxxx.

cs2 armory

Finally, there was an update to the Armory, but it is not the one everyone is actually waiting for. The limited AK-47 Aphrodite is gone from the shop, and nothing came to replace it. We are most likely getting a massive CS2 update along with the new season. We highly recommend grabbing some popcorn for the night of July 7-8.
