On almost every other map, attacking B Site is more difficult and defending it, on the contrary, easier. The passages to the bombsite leave very little room for the attacking side to maneuver. Take, for example, tunnels on Dust 2. Overpass is no exception in this regard. In this post, the CS.MONEY Blog will talk about the key nades at the B Site on Overpass. These nades will help you execute your offensive strategies more effectively. The defenders won’t be left out in the cold either and will learn a couple of cool throws to deny or at least delay such executions.
In CS:GO, there are a number of ways you can throw a grenade. We elaborated on this in our guide. We recommend that you read it to get a better understanding of how the grenade mechanics works in the game.
On any map, there’s a set of so-called default grenades, which every player should ideally know. We’re going to focus on these very default nades today.
Smoke at heaven
Let’s start with the T side. One of the basic and easiest smokes is the one towards heaven. Press against the plywood with the letter B on it, line your crosshair with this area (a small error margin is allowed), and make a throw. As the name of the position implies, the defending AWPer often sits there. This smoke minimizes his room for maneuver and.
Molotov at pit
From the same spot, you can throw a Molotov towards pit. Simply aim a touch above the roof of the building. You can use the boarded-up window as a point of reference: aim above it and then move your crosshair slightly to the left. This Molotov will prevent the opponents from aggressively engaging your teammates at short and will force them to play more passively, allowing you to enter the site.
Smoke at bridge
When rushing B, one good rule of thumb would be throwing a smoke towards bridge. This grenade will force the B Site defenders to take more closed positions or jump towards pit. To throw this smoke correctly, stand facing the wooden part of the fence, aim at the middle of this black circle, and press LMB.
Blinding enemies at monster
It’s definitely worth your while to throw smokes and Molotovs to drive your opponent into the most inconvenient position possible and “cut off” jungle and heaven. But without proper flashes, almost any rush attempt is doomed to failure. Especially when you have to make your way to the site through narrow corridors or spaces, like “monster” on Overpass.
This cool flashbang will help your teammates enter the site through monster. It blinds the player behind pillar, barrels (toxic), and is especially effective against that guy in the canal area.
Stand between these two slabs, aim for the light part of the graffiti, and make a jumpthrow. This way, you’re making the site defenders at the aforementioned positions vulnerable for a few seconds — enough time for you to safely enter the site.
Important note: the flight trajectory of some nades, including this one, crosses the railroad tracks and can interfere with train. When a train rolls onto them, the nades crash into it and miss their target. So pick your flashbang-throw timing accordingly.
Defense’s countermeasures
How can the defense respond? At the very least, one way to hold back a quick B-Site attack is to throw a smoke towards monster at the very beginning of the round from the respawn. Sit behind the green container — the crosshair should be lined with the black square. Make a jumpthrow, and the smoke will land at the right spot.
Important note: this smoke only works properly at a 128 tickrate.
A Molotov thrown towards pipe is a great addition to this smoke. This Molotov will keep the attackers from going towards water or delay this process.
Stand facing the door near the passage to the site, aim between the second and third balconies (counting from the bottom), and make a regular throw. The enemies won’t get through. Or at least, they’ll have to spend a smoke to extinguish the Molotov.
The best defense is a good offense. If the T side keeps acting aggressively in the monster area, you can try and get ahead of them proactively. For instance, you can throw a flashbang for your teammate to leave cover and make a couple of frags or at least collect some info.
To execute this aggressive move, climb the railing, aim at the intersection of the yellow wire and the line on the wall, and throw a flash. Cries for help in your enemy’s voice chat are guaranteed, and your team can gain an easy advantage early in the round.
These grenades make attacking and holding B Site on Overpass much easier. And if you want to feel confident on the whole map, read our article about key grenades on Overpass at the A Site.
