It’s been almost seven years since the first Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major, DreamHack Winter 2013, was held. All this time, CS has been the leading competitive shooter out there. CS.MONEY is here to tell you about some record holders of the competitive scene and their achievements.

The Longest Winning Streak

Ninjas in Pyjamas achieved the largest amount of consecutive victories ever. The record was set in April 2013. In total, the Swedish club won 87 maps on end in LAN competitions. The streak was interrupted by the team Virtus.pro in the match at StarSeries V tournament.

While n team was able to even get close to this result, we can mention Astralis. The Danish squad won 31 times in a row on Nuke in LAN competitions! It was ENCE who managed to cut their streak: it happened in the final of BLAST Pro Series Madrid 2019. The final ended with the victory of the Finns.

The Longest Match Ever

Another record that was set years ago. The longest match ever was a fight between the teams XENEX and exceL at ESL UK Premiership Season 1 in 2015. To determine the strongest on the first map, Inferno, the teams had to play 58 additional rounds in total. The final score was 46:42!

Interestingly, on Cache, the teams also had to play additional rounds, but the second map ended much faster.

Among Major matches, the longest ever is the game of Astralis versus CR4ZY at the StarLadder Berlin Major. On Dust 2, the teams played as many as 60 rounds. Eventually, Astralis won by a score of 31:29.

The Danish team also holds second place in this regard. Interestingly, this second place was taken the day before! In the match against NRG, the Astralis lineup had to play as many as 59 rounds.

The Coolest Comeback Ever

The longest play within one series happened at Acer Predator Masters in 2015. The LAN tournaments themselves were quite fun and “lite”: both the teams and commentators had a lot of fun. The best out of seven final should have been the icing on the cake.

Simply put, the tournament invited the teams to play on all maps and thus determine who was cooler. In the end, everything turned out exactly like this. It was Mousesports and Hellraisers who reached the final of the tournament, with the former having a 1:0 map advantage.

From the Major map pool of that time, the teams played on all maps except Inferno. In the first half of the final, mousesports were leading and after three maps, the score was 3:1 in favor of the European club. On Train, the fourth map of the match, Hellraisers won. Next was a full-fledged comeback resulting in a score of 4:3 in favor of HR.

We can’t but mention the recent final of ESL Pro League Season 12 Europe, which saw Natus Vincere and Astralis go head to head. As was the case with Acer Predator Masters, one of the teams, NAVI, had a 1:0 map advantage. They guys managed to secure this advantage by a victory on Dust 2, making the score 2:0.

After that, Astralis won three consecutive maps with a very remarkable score and made a most spectacular comeback by turning the score from 0:2 to 3:2 in the best out of five final. There are but few examples of such games in the history of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

The Best Player Ever

The most esteemed player is, of course, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz. Under the belt of the Astralis member are 15 MVP medals (2 of them in Majors), six appearances in the top 20 players of the year according to HLTV (5 of them in the top 5), and four victories in Majors.

To add to it, dev1ce is a very stable and efficient player. The number of his frags exceeds that of his deaths by 6390. This is the second-best result, with only Olexandr “s1mple” Kostyliev having better performance.

Speaking of frags, the first place in this respect is held by Kenny “kennyS” Schrub. He has 35,436 frags in official matches. This is a thousand more than the numbers of his closest rivals, JW and f0rest.

Finally, the best marksman is not Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom with his “one taps,” but Denis “grux” Gutaj from Red Reserve. 68.2% of his kills are headshots, whereas the legendary Belgian has a “mere” 68.1%.

Despite its impressive age — for a video game — Counter-Strike: Global Offensive continues to expand. Players and teams set records on a daily basis, and the trend is only growing.
