Top-5 Biggest Esports Fails Ever

16168

No professional player can hit every single shot. Everyone occasionally makes a frustrating mistake, loses concentration, or simply has a bad day. However, some failures are more memorable than others. Today, CS.MONEY Blog will tell you about five of the most epic fails in competitive Counter-Strike over the past ten years.

Sometimes, even the smallest details can influence the outcome. Playing with cool, visually appealing skins can calm you down and give you a confidence boost. You can find such skins on CS.MONEY, where a wide selection awaits you without any overcharges.

You had one job, summit1g

Summit1g is now a popular streamer who has found success, but the same can’t be said about his esports career. At DreamHack Open Austin, he was a stand-in for Splyce and brought one of the funniest and most ridiculous moments in CS history.

Counter-Strike is a game where you need to stay focused until the very last moment. Summit1g managed to clutch a round on Train when his team was leading against CLG with a score of 15:11. All that was left to do was defuse the bomb. There was plenty of time left; he just needed to get to the bomb past a burning Molotov. We’re not sure what happened in the player’s head, but he simply walked through the flames and burned. CLG won the round and then made a comeback, taking the map in overtime.

s1mple punished for showboating

Another legendary situation at a 15:11 score involved an epic fail by the greatest player in Counter-Strike history. This one was a bit more complicated: nitr0 was left against three players from Natus Vincere, and s1mple decided to finish the map with style by knifing the American. The logic was understandable: such a move would give his team a morale boost and deal a crushing blow to the opponents’ confidence. However, something went wrong. Sasha failed, died miserably, handed his weapon to Team Liquid, and they made a comeback, winning the map 22:19.

Maj3r fails to knife a still target

Continuing the theme of failed knife attacks, we turn to the group stage of DreamHack Open Austin 2018, where Space Soldiers faced Rogue for the top seed. The North American team made a clean push to plant B, didn’t see anyone, and planted the bomb. Maj3r acted like a true ninja. He waited until the bomb was being planted, emerged from his hiding spot, and was supposed to easily knife his opponent, but… He failed the task, and as a result, Space Soldiers lost that map. Fans of the Turkish team were only consoled by the fact that they met Rogue again in the tournament’s grand final and took their revenge.

G2 and the sudden amnesia

Remember the Remembrall from Harry Potter? That magical object turned red if its owner had forgotten something. The G2 players could have used one of those because they forgot about the C4! The bomb exploded while four living G2 players were running around the map.

The fact alone qualifies as an epic fail, but it gets even better. First, it happened when the score was 7:15. This means G2 literally lost the match to an empty bomb site. Second, it was during the StarLadder Berlin Major 2019! And third, there was plenty of time, so if even one of them had remembered to defuse C4 during their chaotic map run, they could have easily made it in time.

But no. G2 players were hit with sudden amnesia; the C4 exploded, and with it, their chances of winning the match went up in smoke.

Chasing four opponents but killing none

We return to Cologne. ESL One Cologne 2019 was known not only for s1mple’s fail moment. Tarik found himself in a surprising situation in a match against Team Vitality, where he wasn’t noticed by four opponents at once. You’ve got an M4A4, and everyone is turned away — an ideal opportunity to deal with massive damage. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. An extremely unlucky spray resulted in all four Team Vitality players surviving, and Tarik quickly fell in the next round.

Honorable mention: NiKo and his favorite pistol

If we were to make a list of all the players who never won a major in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, NiKo would always be number one. The Bosnian player had his big chance. At a 15:12 score in the grand final of PGL Major Stockholm, NiKo had the shot of his life: if he had hit the unsuspecting s1mple, the round would likely have been won. The reactions from various personalities to this moment speak volumes. Warning: the video contains a lot of strong language!

A few pixels decided the outcome of the round, and with it, the map: Natus Vincere made a comeback and lifted their first-ever major trophy in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive history.
