MAC-10 is a rapid-fire submachine gun. It’s only available to the attacking side and takes up the intermediate weapon slot in the loadout. MAC-10 has several strengths:
- It’s affordable. MAC-10 costs only $1050, being the cheapest weapon in the game, if you do not count pistols.
- High Rate of Fire. 800 rounds per minute is one of the highest stats in CS2.
- High Mobility. Its movement speed is 240 units per second, only with a knife you run faster!
- Double Frag Reward. Each kill with MAC-10 brings $600 in competitive mode.
MAC-10’s strengths define its role. It’s a run-and-gun weapon. It’s great for clearing out enemies on eco or rushing in a force buy. But does MAC-10 have any weaknesses? Yes, it does.
Weak Sides of MAC-10
MAC-10 has several weak sides. First, it’s Accuracy. MAC’s shooting range is about 10 meters, while at twice that distance, you can miss not only the head, but even the body! This seriously limits your range at firefights.
The second problem is poor armor penetration, because a little less than half of the damage is absorbed. Combined with the modest base damage of 29 units, MAC-10 requires seven hits to the enemy’s armored torso even at close range. And because of the strong drop in damage with distance, you’ll need nine hits at least at medium ranges.

When to Play with MAC-10
MAC-10 works best and most optimal weapon in the second round. It’s really easy: in the second round, your enemies won’t have enough money to buy armor and rifles. It’s a very low-risk investment with high rewards if you execute well. MAC’s high rate of fire and double frag reward allow you to effectively clear out opponents, strengthening the economy.
The second option for using MAC-10 is in rounds when your attack economy is messed up as hell. It’s no secret that in Counter-Strike 2, it’s difficult for the defense to build a strong economy. Because of this, players often do not buy a helmet in order to save money. This plays into the hands of the attack, because a rush with MAC-10s can suppress the enemy.
