Almost every CS2 player either plays matchmaking or Faceit. Everyone wants to rank up — whether it’s Elo, your matchmaking rank, or both. Today, the CS.MONEY Blog will tell you how to do that.

Remember, the most important thing in the game is having fun. There’s no point grinding if you’re not enjoying it. Cool skins can help make those long match streaks more exciting — and you can grab them on our site at low prices.
How to rank up fast in CS2?

The shortest answer: play better and improve fast. Your number (rank or Elo) is just a reflection of your skill — it goes up when you get better.
Now that we’ve moved past Captain Obvious, let’s get into the details. You can split them into two big parts: everything that happens in-game, and everything that happens outside of it.
How to get better at CS2 faster
Let’s start with the things you can work on in the game.
First of all — aim. If you keep missing easy shots, especially in the back, it’s not anyone else’s fault. You can use Steam Workshop maps to train your aim and learn common angles where enemies might be. That way, you can pre-fire smartly and hold better positions.

Second, learn at least the basic grenades on every map. Seriously, this is huge. A perfect setup — like a molly in Mirage window or an instant smoke on Ancient — can completely change a round. We have a whole series of guides about the best grenades on different maps. Here’s a list of key nades for Nuke, for example.
Third, the more you know about CS2 mechanics, the better you’ll play. Learn contact timings, how they depend on spawns, how armor works, and how damage drops over distance. We’ve got tons of detailed guides on our site — just click this link and start exploring.
You can’t control what kind of teammates the algorithm gives you — but you can control how well-prepared you are and how smartly you use your skills. That brings us to the tips that aren’t directly about CS2.
How to level up your soft skills?
CS2 is a team game, so you’ll have to talk and work with other people. You might be surprised how much your attitude outside the game can affect your performance. These tips won’t give you instant boosts, but they’re super important in the long run.
Imagine trying to play while bees are flying around your head, and your neighbors are drilling into the walls. Now think how much better you’d play in a calm, quiet space. Exactly.

That’s why you shouldn’t make things more stressful for your teammates. Flaming almost never helps. If you keep your cool and support someone during a rough round, you might even see the enemy team start flaming each other. Staying chill matters — even if someone on your team is playing badly, it’s not their fault you got matched together (unless they’re account buyers). You’re already on the same team — make the most of it.
The second key point is clear communication. The more useful info you have, the better your decisions. Listen carefully when your teammates give calls, and don’t flood voice chat with useless stuff. If someone starts raging instead of giving info, just mute them. No info is better than toxic noise.

Third — only queue when you’re ready. If you didn’t warm up, hop into a deathmatch or practice map first. If you just lost a tough game, take a break. Playing tilted makes you less effective — and efficiency is what separates good players from average ones, and great players from good ones.
We wrote another article all about winning in solo queue, but honestly, it’s better to find a regular team to play with. After all, CS2 is a team game, and good teamwork usually beats raw aim.
Still, none of this matters if you’re not having fun. Those four letters — GL HF — aren’t just the useless tradition. So go for it, and may the wins be with you!
