A knife makes a splendid addition to any loadout. However, the urge to get it might sometimes lead to bad consequences. Not to worry though: the CS.MONEY blog is now going to tell you the safest way to get a knife for your inventory.
Cases
It was after one “funny” case that we decided to tell you how to get a knife in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. On the game’s subreddit, there appeared a post with a heart-wrenching story. A player decided to get a knife out of a case — and lost almost five thousand bucks in the process. Pretty tough as it is, right?
But it gets tougher further on. After he opened almost fifteen hundred cases, he didn’t get a knife. Not a single one. He didn’t even get, say, a Gut Knife Urban Masked or any other knife in the “one-hundred-dollar” category. Long story short: the fortune seeker experienced a total fiasco.
Unlike other skins, knives never drop after matches. And they can’t be crafted either. There’s only one way new knives appear in the game: they drop from cases. Of course, you could “spin the roulette wheel” and try to get a knife like that, but we hope the story we’ve just told you has clearly shown you this isn’t the best option.
Cases are a very “unfair” thing. We even have a special post where we elaborated why on how exactly they work.
Exchange
Another way to get a knife is to exchange it from another user. It’s “as easy as it gets”. You just need to find an owner of the skin and make sure that they definitely have the desired knife. That’s not all, however. You also need to contact the owner, arrange the exchange, and hope they need your skins as much as you need their knife.
If it still feels “easy”, don’t forget that you have to look for the owner almost by hand. On trader subreddits, in the game itself, on community servers — who knows where you’ll find the owner of that precious knife? Bottom line: exchanging skins for knives is a genuine marathon task.

Buying in the Steam Community Market
You can also buy a knife directly, without a natural exchange. You can find a lot of knives on the Steam Community Market, but not all of them. That’s one of the many problems about this platform. Besides the lack of certain knife types, there’s no sorting by float or pattern, no proper previews, and no filters in the Steam Community Market.
To add to it, items are a bit overpriced there. While this option is certainly more reliable than cases and more convenient than a regular exchange, it’s still inferior to the next one.
Buying at CS.MONEY
Yes, the easiest, cheapest, and fastest option to get a knife is to buy one from our website. First things first. This option is the easiest because we have a flexible filter system and a convenient autofill. Just make a couple of clicks and choose the desired knife from the drop-down list — and you have all the blades you need right in front of you.
If you need a cheaper knife, you can sort by price. If you’re a collector in search of rare items, you can sort all the skins by float. All you have to do is choose the knife you like, add it to your cart, and complete the deal. Done! You have to admit it, it’s much easier than exchanging or searching for a suitable knife in the Steam Community Market.
Beyond that, many knives are cheaper on our website than in Steam. Let’s cite M9 Bayonet Lore Field-Tested by way of example. On our website, it costs under $750, but in Steam, the price is $70 higher! There’s another not-so-obvious bonus: we add up to 40% to your first top-up on the website. So your knife purchase can cost you a lot less than on Steam.
Finally, it’s faster to buy from us. We have not only filters and previews but also a mobile app for Android. While you were reading the extraordinary story about a guy exchanging five thousand bucks for zero knives, you could have already downloaded it from the Google Play Store, installed it, logged in, and made your first exchange. That’s what we call a FAST bargain!
Are cases really not an option?
No. Seriously, there’s absolutely no point in opening a case if you want a knife. Unlike many other games, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has no pity timer. The chance to get a knife from each particular case doesn’t depend on your previous attempts. Making it is quite possible to lose 5 thousand dollars and get nothing.
For that money, you can, for instance, buy all the knives from our top and get a pair of gloves for the loose change, a posh AK-47 Redline, a top AWP, and an M4… In short, enough for a complete loadout — and a year’s supply of pizza. Or maybe even a two-year supply.
Knives have had a cult following since the moment they appeared in CS:GO. No other item type — not even gloves — has managed to acquire this status. Many players will actually prefer a cool Bowie knife to the legendary AWP Dragon Lore! If you’re just as hungry for cool knives, hurry and drop by our site.
