CS2 Madness: Insane Strats That Actually Worked

Tactics in Counter-Strike 2 are usually smart and well-thought-out. Teams fight for map control, sync up perfectly, and hit timings just right. But sometimes, they throw caution out the window and go for wild plays. That’s how the craziest tactics in CS2 are born. And that’s exactly what the CS.MONEY Blog is diving into today.

What do you do when you’ve got no money, but you really need to win the round? Easy: go all-in and try to rush the enemy together. The way CS2 is balanced, five Glocks or USPs can wipe out armored opponents in seconds.

Lots of teams use this tactic. At the Austin Major, the players from Legacy were seen doing it—and they made it deep into the tournament. So yeah, this one’s wild but totally works.

Another crazy CS2 tactic: using enemy smokes against them. It’s not a new trick. Ten years ago, the Luminosity squad pulled it off at the MLG Columbus Major. They threw smokes across the whole A site on Cache to block vision. (the time you need is 1:36:48)

You can do the same. A simple example: B site on Anubis. Even high-ranked players often throw a smoke to block the entry to site. You can toss another smoke into it to create a full wall. Then just trust your luck and try to plant the bomb right behind that smoke cover.

Probably the most insane tactic in CS2 is the runboost on Vertigo. The map might be out of the competitive pool now, but this trick won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Why? Three reasons:

  • It’s hard.
  • It’s risky.
  • It’s super effective.

Here’s how it works: at the very start of the round, two T-side players rush to the second level and set up a runboost that launches one of them off the map. That player then curves mid-air and lands right near the stairs to B site.

If you time it perfectly, the CTs won’t expect a thing, and you might score a couple of frags. If you mess it up… well, the fall from the 51st floor gives you just enough time to think about what went wrong.

Flashing defenders when entering a site? Totally normal. But what if you crank that up to 100? Then it becomes pure chaos. That’s exactly what happened in a recent G2 vs NAVI match at the Austin Major.
(go straight to 8:30:01 mark)

In overtime, G2 tried to take B site on Inferno. At the key moment, they unleashed a non-stop wave of flashbangs. Suddenly, every player near the bombsite was completely blind. Actual madness.

One more wild idea—playing CS2 with no skins at all. Skins don’t just make your guns look awesome, they show off your personality. So don’t jump into the game with an empty inventory. The best move? Head to the CS.MONEY Market and grab a few skins you like!
