Despite the fact that (spoiler!) CS:GO records are still unbeaten, the CS2 era is now really close!
71 rounds: M80 vs. Fnatic — 37:34 on Anubis (ESL Pro League S20)
In September 2024, ESL Pro League delivered a real thriller. For over three hours, M80 and Fnatic battled it out on Anubis. Funny thing — while this record-breaking CS2 map was going on, another match finished an entire Bo3 series in less time!
You could tell it was going to be a close one: both halves ended 6:6. Fnatic had more opening kills (45:26), but couldn’t always turn them into round wins. The match was so intense that organizers allowed a rare tech pause — so players could take a bathroom break.
In the end, M80 won the map, and reck earned MVP honors with 58 kills and a 1.29 rating.
64 rounds: Rhyno vs. Zero Tenacity — 34:30 on Vertigo (Elisa Invitational Fall 2024)
The previous record, which M80 and Fnatic broke, had only stood for 14 days. Two weeks earlier at Elisa Invitational Fall 2024, Rhyno and Zero Tenacity clashed on Vertigo in an epic online battle.
Both sides played better on T side, but once Rhyno tightened up on defense, they secured the win.
nEMANHA was the standout player, dealing over 100 average damage per round. Still, his solo performance wasn’t enough — Rhyno played better as a team.
60 rounds: PARIVISION vs. Aurora Gaming — 31:29 on Ancient (ESL Challenger League S46)
This match held the record for a while. It happened during ESL Challenger League Season 46. It was an elimination game, and Aurora had no room for mistakes after losing the first map. Both teams had chances to win, but in the end, PARIVISION came out on top. SELLTER led the scoreboard with 48 kills in 60 rounds.

Of course, we can’t forget CS:GO — CS2 is its direct successor, after all. The longest match ever played in CS:GO was between XENEX and exceL. They played 88 rounds on Inferno, and JT dropped 68 frags! It’s crazy that in just two years of CS2 competition, teams have already come close to the top 3, but haven’t broken those records… yet.
