IEM Road to Rio: Seven Impressive Facts

2406

The first RMR games have already started, which will determine the 24 participants of the ESL Rio Major 2022. CS.MONEY Blog has prepared several notable facts about the competition for you to be ready to see the unfolding fight.

We recommend you read the article carefully: there’s a hidden a valuable code that will get you closer to winning a cool prize on GameChanger Hub! We have already started the second week of our project and now the codes will bring you even more!

Amazing Geography

  • One of the RMRs will feature only four teams

It’s pretty apparent that European and American tournaments will have everyone’s attention. But there’s also a separate RMR explicitly made for the Asian region; however, it will have only four teams presented! You might know IGC Gaming and Grayhound Gaming well, thanks to their previous appearances at CS:GO Majors. These two will compete against China’s Rare Atom and the Israeli-Russian JiJieHao International squad. The Russian duo of Facecrack and davcost are playing for the latter.

  • The American Qualifier is the toughest

Here, it’s not that much about the strength of participating teams; it’s the tournament format. While every other Qualifier requires teams to finish in the top half to travel to Rio, there are only six slots for sixteen teams in the Americas. We expect a fierce battle not only for the top-6 but for the first place since it is the only place granting a Legend status with the right to skip the Challengers stage.

  • 46 countries will participate in RMR

That’s a lot, isn’t it? Still, we decided to highlight five separate players: kaze from Malaysia, rigoN from Switzerland, sugaR from Azerbaijan, SunPayus from Spain, and dav1d from Chile. They are not only representing their countries solo but can be fun and dramatic to follow during the Qualifiers (The first part of the promo code: 9GZ).

  • Six new countries can debut on the Major

European RMR A has 1WIN and GamerLegion: if they qualify for Rio, lollipop21k and iM would be the first Belarusian and Romanian players to play in Majors. Americas’  Infinity may open a path for Peruvian, Mexican, and Colombian players. Finally, if Team oNe Esports qualifies, Guatemala’s malbsMd will debut on the biggest CS:GO stage, too!

Statistics and rating

  • Of 52 teams, two are not in the HLTV’s top 100

Both of them represent the Americas: Infinity (#101) and Isurus (#102). It is worth noting that among all European RMR A participants, B8 has the lowest rating (#66), in European RMR B Illuminar is in 88th place, and JiJieHao International is the world’s 87th.

  • Last Man Standing: Xyp9x, dupreeh, or both?

Before the current major cycle started, three players attended every CS:GO Major; however, shox failed to qualify. That’s why we can witness only two super veterans this time. It is worth noting that the Danish duo played together in 16 majors out of 17. Copenhagen Wolves, Team Dignitas, TSM, Astralis… but before the Antwerp Major, their paths split (Second part of the promo code: FQM).

  • At least 170 maps, 231 maps tops

Counter-Strike’s esports carnival will finally get started! And remember: each 260 players who compete in the RMR can change the game. You may do that as well by joining our GameChanger Hub!
