CS2 Austin Major Pick’Ems: Playoff Stage
The rules for this final stage are a bit different from the previous three. You need to predict the outcome of two quarterfinals, one semifinal, and the grand final. The tricky part? You have to lock in all your predictions before the quarterfinals begin. That means picking the champion right away. Let’s break it down.
Starting with the quarterfinals, two teams feel like safe picks: FURIA and Team Vitality. On the big stage, experience in front of huge crowds matters most. FalleN has more of that than the entire PaiN Gaming roster combined. As for Natus Vincere, they haven’t shown how they could realistically beat Team Vitality, who bounced back strongly after their Bo1 loss to Legacy.
Team Spirit also has a solid shot at finally beating MOUZ after a long drought. The Dragons are in great form, while MOUZ seem to be struggling lately. The match between FaZe Clan and The MongolZ could go either way. But judging by FaZe players’ recent interviews, the team is clicking, s1mple is having some vintage moments, and they’ve got the experience to hold it together. So we’re going with them.
In the potential semi final between FaZe Clan and FURIA, we’re once again picking Karrigan’s squad. Of the four teams in the top half, they’re playing the best CS right now.
The other semifinal is way trickier. That match—Team Vitality vs Team Spirit—could decide the whole championship. It’s going to be close, basically 50/50. But we’ll give the edge to the French club based on their head-to-head history.
In the grand final, we expect FaZe Clan to put up a good fight. But we don’t think it’ll be enough. Whether they face Team Vitality or Team Spirit, they’ll likely fall just short of the title.
