(Un)real sportsmen: superstars of big sport in CS:GO

The CS.MONEY Blog found several professional athletes who collect skins and score headshots in their leisure time. Before you start reading the post, try to guess the most expensive inventory — and compare your hunch with the actual facts at the end. Here we go!

Jerzy Janowitz: tennis player, AWPer, streamer

If right now you open the stream of Jerzy Janowitz, Wimbledon semifinalist and former world number fourteen ranked tennis player, you’re unlikely to see any Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Odds are, it’ll be another battle royale. But why is the Polish tennis player opening our selection in this case?

It’s simple: he used to stream CS on a regular basis — and his broadcasts were absolutely crazy, we might add. His furious pounding on the keyboard after a bad round was a sight to behold. On top of that, he has over $10,000 worth of equipment in his inventory. The possessions of the tennis player include: an AWP Dragon Lore, a StatTrak™ M4A4 Howl, a Glock-18 Fade, and Driver Gloves Imperial Plaid. The approximate cost of the inventory amounts to $11,400.

Ricky Lumpkin and a Major champion

Ricky Lumpkin played American football for Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, and Indianapolis Colts from 2011 to 2016. He combined his NFL appearances with streaming. And he started with CS:GO. Now, however, he broadcasts Battlefield and other popular shooters more frequently, just like Jerzy Janowicz.

But he didn’t end up on this list simply because of his popular broadcasts or expensive skins. In 2016, Ricky Lumpkin was one of the owners of the team FlipSid3 Tactics. At the time, Andrii “B1ad3” Horodenskyi, the future Major Champion, was still playing on the roster. And that’s how, by an act of fate, an American footballer and the coach of the world’s best CS:GO club ended up on the same team.

Nikola Jokić: an NBA MVP who’s played thousands of hours in CS:GO

Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokić, a Serbian player, was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2021. Fun fact: the last time Nikola Jokic, who happens to play as a center, won the MVP title was back in 2000. Shaquille O’Neal was the recipient of the award at the time!

In addition to his love for basketball, Jokić is also passionate about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. According to his Steam profile, he has spent over four thousand hours in Valve’s shooter, with the stats steadily growing. Interestingly, his skin collection is rather modest. The cost of the inventory doesn’t reach $200, and the most expensive skin in it is an AWP Wildfire in Minimal Wear condition.

Oleksandr Zinchenko: a UEFA Champions League finalist and a veteran of Aztec

Sports stars who play CS:GO include not only basketball and tennis players, but also renowned footballers. For instance, Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko regularly visits CS:GO. Fun fact: judging by his achievements, the player isn’t particularly fond of try-hard competitive matches on Inferno.

Instead, he plays almost all the maps in the game. Among Oleksandr Zinchenko’s achievements in CS:GO, we found awards for a hundred rounds on Aztec and Dust, fourteen broken windows on Office, and even for 5000 matches in Arms Race and Demolition modes. By the way, do you play these modes? Tell us in the comments!

Brazilian club: Neymar, Casimiro, and Arthur Melo

If you thought the selection of big sports stars could do without Neymar, you were in the wrong. Today we’re going to mention not only Neymar, but a whole group of South American stars who play both football and CS:GO

Let’s start off with Arthur Melo. The Brazilian midfielder of Italia’s Juventus has been playing CS:GO for a while now. But there’s more: Artur Melo also collects skins. Even though his inventory and Steam profile are hidden now, we know for a fact that he boasted $20,000 worth of skins previously! Besides the “gentleman’s set” of an AWP Dragon Lore and an M4A4 Howl, he had — and most likely still has — several pairs of gloves and a couple of knives. Now that’s one sharp dresser.

Apart from Arthur Melo, there are quite a few Brazilian players playing CS:GO. On Steam, you can find the group Meninos do Hexa. The milieu consists of only nine users, and it’s extremely difficult to join it. More like impossible, really: its members include Neymar, Carlos Henrique Casimiro, Gabriel Jesus, and Bruno Angelo. So if you’re not a world-class Brazilian footballer, you stand almost no chance of making it to the group.

Let’s not forget about skins. Neymar alone has over $20,000 worth of weapon finishes. But the other Brazilian footballers are proud owners of some truly luxury skins as well. For example, Gabriel Jesus has an impressive collection that includes an AK-47 Wild Lotus, Driver Gloves Crimson Weave, a Desert Eagle Blaze, and a lot of other cool skins!

Every year, more and more stars embrace their passion for video games, including CS:GO. Next time, we’ll talk about some CS:GO pros and their passion for other games.
