Operation Breakout was released in 2014. It was the fourth operation in a row and can hardly be called memorable. However, this one can ideologically be called an ancestor of the latest operations. CS.MONEY Blog will explain why exactly Operation Breakout was revolutionary.
New Content
Breakout added six new maps to the game. Two hostage maps: Rush and Insertion. And four more standard C4-planting ones: Black Gold, Castle, Mist, Overgrown. No map made it into the competitive map pool, yet Insertion and Black Gold reappeared in the game during Operation Hydra.
What’s more interesting, it introduced a new set of conditions to upgrade the Operation Coin. In the previous Phoenix operation, players had to do one thing: spend a certain number of hours on the operation maps and win a dozen of them. Starting with Operation Breakout, the coin progression required completing tasks. From that moment, people had to struggle in order to get a gold coin, completing as many as 15 missions!
Following operations saw the tasks system developed. Starting with Shattered Web, completing assignments got you stars, and along with Broken Fang, Valve brought up a special store to exchange them for skins and agents. And it was Operation Breakout to launch the evolution.
Finest Case
Operation Breakout came out with a case of the same name. And it was filled with high-quality skins. Firstly, the “evergreen” public favorite, M4A1-S Cyrex, is one of the most popular skins in the game. In terms of demand, it is second only to AK-47 Redline. Moreover, the rest of the skins are excellent too.
Glock-18 Water Elemental, P90 Asiimov, Desert Eagle Conspiracy, and other skins from the case quickly gained popularity among players. Most importantly, these beauties successfully passed the time test: Breakout Collection’s finest look good in inventories even today. Also, prices are worth mentioning: the abovementioned M4A1-S Cyrex MW will cost less than twenty bucks, a relatively low price for a main defense rifle skin released eight years ago.
Another Breakout Case’s killer feature is the knives. The notorious butterfly knife was first presented in this case and had 13 shades:
- Vanilla
- Fade
- Slaughter
- Blue Steel
- Case Hardened
- Crimson Web
- Night
- Safari Mesh
- Stained
- Urban Masked
- Boreal Forest
- Forest DDPAT
- Scorched
Got pretty excited and feel lucky for a butterfly drop? Don’t rush for it. Firstly, the case itself costs at least three dollars apiece. Secondly, its skins are not very expensive: you will get back about half in skins for every two bucks invested in opening a case. It’s a tiny percentage among all the cases! By the way, you can find out which cases are most profitable to farm with in our separate article.
Map Collections
Last but not least: the new collections. Together with the operation release, Valve has introduced Baggage, Cobblestone, and Overpass collections to CS:GO. Right, the most legendary AWP skin appeared in Operation Breakout. Apart from Dragon Lore, players saw M4A1-S Master Piece, AWP Pink DDPAT, and Desert Eagle Pilot.
It first seemed that Operation Breakout was just another operation at that time, but now, eight years later, its footprint is much more visible. Assignments progression system, decent skins, and one of the most fabulous knives of its time.
By the way, if you haven’t seen Breakout, you can still buy its battle pass. You won’t get access to tasks, but having a bronze operation coin in your inventory is awesome. Indeed, it’s pretty expensive, but it works fine for Operation Coins collectors.
