Counter-Strike 2 hasn’t been released yet but remains a central topic within the community since its announcement. How could old and new maps surprise us? Will new mechanics affect the gameplay? And the most crucial question: how will the skins look? In this article, CS.MONEY Blog gathered various community opinions on CS2 skins.
Counter-Strike 2 draws a lot of attention, and many players, beginners or not, would want to update their inventories before the game comes out. Explore how skins look in CS2 with the help of our special dedicated page. Visuals, prices, investments, and more! Go read!
New Textures, New Life
Naturally, the first skins that caught the community’s eye were the metallic ones. The overwhelming majority of well-known bloggers couldn’t contain their surprise when they saw how much Silver pistols transformed. And all thanks to the new Anodized finish style.
Another community favourite is AUG Carved Jade: while the skin may have appeared rather unremarkable in CS:GO, its texture looks stunning in CS2.
Among the skins that have already gained popularity, the Hot Rod series has received extra points for style. For example, Sparkles notes that the “M4A1-S Hot Rod looks way, way better due to its shiny, shiny nature.” The lighting and updated textures in Source 2 indeed work wonders.
Sniper Scopes Hit Different
What’s really cool is that some patterns/colours now appear on the scopes of certain sniper rifles. Sometimes, this dramatically changes how you feel the skin, and if the weapon finish is monochromatic, it becomes even better in all aspects.
For instance, Anomaly mentioned in his CS2-dedicated skins video how good the new graphics make them: “SSG 08 Acid Fade is actually a skin I bought only because it looks so good in CS 2. Now we have a color on the scope and honestly, it’s a huge difference”.
A Fresh Look at Old Skins
Since lighting is an essential aspect of Source 2, even skins that have mostly stayed the same begin to shine brighter.
Ohnepixel notes, “AWP Lightning Strike are insane because they have a shiny foil effect for whatever reason. Absolutely interesting.” The skin almost seems rarer and more expensive now (heya, CCG fans, sounds familiar?).
Sometimes, the changes can be literally blinding. Be cautious with previews! For example, PP-Bizon Brass, as an unprepared eye might find the reflection too bright.
Old Design, New Weapons
Another exciting direction for CS2 skins overall is that we can have expansions of familiar skin series. When the CS2 workshop became available to skin makers, some immediately started transferring approved designs to new models. And that’s awesome: people know and love these designs, and the skins can look just as good on the new guns.
For example, the design of ZX Spectron was transferred to several other rifles and pistols, and you know what? These have numerous likes pressed, so the people have spoken. We really want to see some of the new-but-old designs in the game!
