The new operation introduced almost a hundred stickers and patches into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. And they are nothing short of amazing. Today, the CS.MONEY Blog is going to tell you everything you need to know about the brand-new Operation Riptide stickers.

Waves, skulls and bones. Operation Riptide stickers and patches

What are stickers and patches?

Before we explore Operation Riptide, let’s take a look at some basic definitions. Stickers are special items that you can place onto skins. They come in three kinds: regular, (Holo), and (Foil), the difference being in the extent of glossiness and transparency. You can decorate most guns with no more than four stickers. Once used, stickers can’t be removed or retrieved — you can only destroy them.

Patches are basically “stickers for agents.” You can “sew” them onto an agent model in specific spots. Unlike stickers, you can only see patches from a third-person perspective: for example, in the menu when inspecting your character. You can’t retrieve patches to the inventory after you use them — if you applied one to an agent, that’s goodbye forever.

What stickers and patches did Operation Riptide bring us?

The operation added one Patch Collection and two Sticker Collections to the game. All items are executed in the marine theme. Let’s start with the thirteen new patches. Three of them are of the highest quality possible, Exotic, another five are Remarkable, and the remaining six are High Grade.

Operation Riptide Sticker Collection includes fourteen items:

Operation Riptide also brought us the Riptide Surf Shop Sticker Collection. It contains as many as 72 stickers: 12 (Foil) stickers, 24 (Holo) ones, and 36 “regulars.” Check out the complete list on our wiki. By the way, we suggest you visit the wiki more often. There, each item has its own page with really helpful and exciting info.

How do I get Operation Riptide stickers?

There are two ways to get stickers or patches from the new operation. The first is available to everyone. Namely, you can simply buy or trade it from another player. Right now, amongst the hype around the new operation, the stickers are a little overpriced. Because of that, we recommend you to wait a few days — most likely, the prices will drop over this time.

The second way is only available to those owning a battle pass for Operation Riptide. By completing missions that are part of the operation, you can earn stars, which you can spend in the in-game store. For two stars, you can get a random patch, and for one star, a random sticker. Note: you get to choose a particular collection.

By the way, if you’re still wondering whether you should purchase that battle pass, we have a couple of tips for you. Check them out in our article.

How do I safely try a sticker on a skin?

As mentioned previously, stickers are single-use items. Even worse, you can’t try on a streak of four stickers at once to see how they look together. Or… can you?

We have a special tool exactly for this purpose called 3D Builder. There, you can mix and match stickers and skins in all possible combinations and configurations: with or without StatTrak, Factory-New or Battle-Scarred with huge float values. You can adjust these and more skin parameters in our 3D Builder. It enables you to try on any streak of stickers on any skin to see how cool your craft is without the risk of losing them.
