The other day, we decided on whether you should buy Operation Riptide. Long story short: it’s a must. Today, the CS.MONEY Blog is going to tell you how to earn stars in the operation and how to get as many as possible with the least amount of effort.
Operation Riptide
Mechanics-wise, the eleventh operation echoes the previous one. To participate in it, you must purchase a battle pass priced at $15. Once you do so, you get to earn stars. Just like before, you can spend stars on cool stuff in a special operation store.
Besides, earning stars upgrades the operation Coin. The coin comes in four types:
- Bronze — given to everyone who’s bought the operation;
- Silver — obtained after collecting 33 stars;
- Gold — awarded when you’ve earned 66 stars;
- Diamond — unlocked after you’ve farmed all 100 stars.
The operation will last from September 21 through, roughly, February 22. The end date may change. Bottom line: it’s a regular operation.
How do I earn stars?
You can gain stars on a weekly basis for completing missions. In the first week, you can get ten stars, and in all subsequent weeks, no more than six. Any stars you earn after the sixth one will add to your experience scale.
You can buy extra stars either in any number, such as 3 or 7, or in sets. There are two sets: ten stars and one hundred, and both come with a discount. Purchased stars don’t contribute to the operation’s progress. These are the two only ways to receive operation stars.
Effective farming
To earn stars, you need to complete missions. They are divided between different game modes. Starting from the second week, you can choose a couple of tasks and collect all six stars by completing them. Note: you can complete the missions even without a pass, but you’ll only be able to get your rewards after buying it.
Competitive mode missions are the most time-consuming. You’ll most likely have to play about 25 rounds, which will take you about an hour. Next up are the “battle royale” challenges. A small reminder: Danger Zone matches are shorter by about half compared to the 5v5 mode. Finally, the fastest way to farm stars is by playing deathmatches. If you’re only interested in collecting stars, focus on the game modes and objectives that are the easiest to finish.
Should I buy Operation Riptide stars?
We can’t give a definitive answer. A hundred stars are more expensive than the battle pass. However, even if you’re focused entirely on the quickest of tasks, you’ll still need time. So if you’re in no mood to spend it on farming, buying a hundred at once might indeed be the most reasonable call.
In other cases, we recommend that you stick with the pass. The thing is, it can pay off and even bring you a little money on top. Buying stars, on the other hand, will only pay off if you are incredibly lucky.
What should I buy for stars?
Judging from the previous Operation, Broken Fang, the safest investments are cases and stickers. If you opt for them, you’re not only likely to recoup your battle pass investment, but you’ll also be able to turn a sizeable profit. After you sell all your loot on the Steam Marketplace, you can increase your Steam balance by double or even triple the cost of the operation.
By the way, you can also sell stickers on CS.MONEY. Moreover, you can try them on the skins you like in 3D Builder. There, you can experiment with all new skins and stickers, creating all kinds of combinations in search of the coolest crafts.
If you’re not interested in profits, you can spend your stars on skins:
- If you have one hundred stars, you can get 1 Covert skin from The 2021 Train collection;
- Twenty stars will get you 1 Classified skin from The 2021 Train collection;
- With four stars, you can afford 1 Restricted skin from The 2021 Train collection;
- One star can be exchanged for 1 Mil-Spec skin from The 2021 Train collection.
You can also spend stars on agents:
- Twenty-five stars will get you one of three Master CT or T agents of your choice;
- Ten stars equals a Superior agent;
- For seven stars, you can purchase an Exceptional agent;
- Finally, five stars are the equivalent of a Distinguished Agent.
You can spend more stars in the “casino”:
- For two stars, you can buy an operation case. Since it’s locked, you’ll have to buy the key if you want to get a skin out of it;
- For four stars, you can get one random case from three collections of your choice: The 2021 Vertigo, The 2021 Mirage, or The 2021 Dust 2;
- Two stars can be exchanged for one patch;
- You can spend one star to upgrade your inventory with a sticker from the Riptide Surf Shop Collection or the Operation Riptide set.
Tip for the thrifty
Usually, Valve offers discounts on items available for a limited time. Like operation battle passes or Major sticker capsules. Last time, the discount on the operation amounted to a fantastic 40%!
So if you want to get the most out of your purchase, you can complete all the missions, buy a pass at the end of the operation, and collect your rewards. Thus, each star will cost you about nine cents — against the fifteen cents when buying a pass for the full price. And you can spend the six dollars you saved on an AK-47 Elite Build Factory New!
By the way, you can buy it right now from us at CS.MONEY on excellent terms!
First of all, a special offer is valid with an increased top-up bonus: 40% compared to the regular 25%. And if it’s the first time you’re adding funds to your balance, you’ll get another bonus of 5% on top of that.
Second, when you make a purchase, you get a chance to win brand-new Operation Riptide weapon finishes. To this end, be sure to participate in our Gleam event with a Butterfly Knife Lore FT as the grand prize! The event will last until October 15, so hurry up!
