He came out of nowhere and blasted into Counter-Strike 2 esports. After Team Spirit’s victory at IEM Katowice 2024, the entire scene is buzzing about Danil “donk” Kryshkovets. Who is donk?
Danil Kryshkovets is a seventeen-year-old guy from Tomsk who simply loves playing Counter-Strike. His older brother introduced him to the game, and together they transitioned to CS:GO. Danil has already accumulated nearly 13.5 thousand hours of gameplay, showcasing his dedication despite being only seventeen years old. While playing that much, donk quickly progressed and dominated opponents, even with a high ping (around 100). At 15, he was the best player in FPL, and this year, he became the player with the highest ELO in the first season of FaceIT.
Yet, he remains an open guy who genuinely enjoys the game and doesn’t hesitate to express emotions. At IEM Katowice 2024, this even led to official warnings. However, when you have such impressive results on the server, it seems like any penalty is worth it.
Team Spirit donk – How did it all begin?
Danil made a striking entrance into the top levels of FaceIT, catching the attention of OverDrive, Team Spirit’s main scout. Shortly afterwards, Spirit Academy signed the fourteen-year-old guy. Not everything went smoothly at first, but Danil continued to progress. After a year and a half in the academy, the organization decided to bring him into the main lineup, and we witnessed Team Spirit’s donk the first time. Currently, the seventeen-year-old donk has two MVP medals from LAN tournaments: IEM Katowice 2024 and BetBoom Dacha. However, Danil’s biggest challenges are still ahead. From February 19 to 22, the European RMR B will take place, and based on the results, Team Spirit may qualify for the first CS2 Major.
Why is Donk so good and what is all the hype about?
In Katowice, he showed a phenomenal level of play. An average rating of 1.70 is a record-tying result in Counter-Strike history, which is simply incredible! Donk stands out for his extremely high mechanical skill: he just runs and guns his opponents and it works all the time. This style particularly suits the current state of net code in CS2 with its peeker’s advantage (despite the devs trying to fix it).
Notably, Danil doesn’t play with a sniper rifle because he believes it limits his talent. Consider that in a shorter game’s economic meta, and we get a real terminator who simply outshoots and annihilates opponents with an incredible number of multi-kills.
Team Spirit has cleverly built its game model around donk. This doesn’t mean that Danil would be a low-tab player in any other team, but his current team’s game plan allows him to shine so brightly that questions about the best rookie of the year are practically answered in February.
Donk’s CS2 settings
Danil plays with a resolution of 1280*960, with a stretched 4:3 aspect ratio. His Video Settings are mostly set to low, except for Global Shadow. Donk also prefers Boost Player Contrast enabled.
Donk’s mouse is LOGITECH G PRO X Superlight Magenta set at DPI 800 with 1.25 sensitivity. It’s a fairly common setup with no particularly standout features.

Donk’s CS2 Skins Loadout
Donk’s inventory is not very extensive, as expected for a relative newcomer, but there are some interesting skins. We saw two intriguing AK-47s: a Gold Arabesque with four gold Neo stickers and the Bloodsport covered with Vox Eminor Kato 14 stickers. Danil mostly prefers the color red, as seen with the M4A1-S and MP9 Hot Rod, Glock-18 Candy Apple, and USP-S Kill Confirmed. He also has AWP Fade and Butterfly Knife Fade, complemented by Specialist Gloves Crimson Kimono.
