Which Countries Will Host the 2027 CS2 Majors?
Right now, the location of the first Valve tournament of 2027 has already been confirmed, while the second Major is still based on leaks.
The first CS2 Major of 2027 will take place in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. It will be the first time that Argentina hosts not only a Counter-Strike Major but also a top-tier CS2 tournament of any kind.
According to leaks, the second Major is expected to return to Shanghai, China. Two years earlier, China hosted the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. That tournament ended with Team Spirit lifting its first Valve Major trophy after defeating FaZe Clan in the Grand Final.
The home crowd did not bring much luck to China’s only representative, Rare Atom. The team finished second to last and was eliminated early from the tournament.
Who Will Organize the 2027 CS2 Majors?
FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027 will be organized by FiReSPORTS. If you have never heard of this tournament organizer, that’s completely understandable. Most of its events have been held in South America, and none of them featured the world’s strongest teams.
Here are a few interesting facts:
- FiReSPORTS organized FiReLEAGUE 2022: Global Finals in Barcelona. It remains the company’s only LAN event outside South America.
- The company has already hosted seven tournaments in Buenos Aires, including several with international teams.
- This will become only the second CS:GO and CS2 Major ever held in South America. The first one was IEM Rio Major 2022.
Another interesting detail is that Valve is trusting a new Major organizer for the first time in three years. Considering the strength of South American teams and the incredible atmosphere fans created during the Rio Major, choosing FiReSPORTS looks like a logical and relatively safe decision.
According to leaks, the second Major will once again be organized by Perfect World. This makes a lot of sense because Perfect World publishes Counter-Strike in China and already works closely with Valve.
The company also successfully organized the Shanghai Major in 2024, while support for esports in China continues to grow. Both factors make hosting another Major much easier.
2027 CS2 Major Arenas
The exact venues have not been officially announced yet. For FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027, the most likely venue is Movistar Arena. Opened in 2019, it was originally designed for concerts, making it a modern venue with excellent seating, strong infrastructure, and high-quality facilities for large esports events.
FiReSPORTS has already hosted tournaments there before, so the organizer has valuable experience with the arena.
If the Shanghai Major happens, the most likely option is to use the same venues as in 2024.
The Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 used two arenas:
- The group stage was played at the Shanghai Exhibition & Convention Center.
- The playoffs took place at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center.
Another strong option is the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai. The venue has already hosted major Dota 2, Valorant, and League of Legends tournaments, making it more than capable of hosting a CS2 Major as well.
2027 CS2 Major Dates
Valve also announces Major dates well in advance. The next Major, PGL Major Singapore 2026, also known as this year’s winter Major, will run from November 25 to December 13.
FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027 will be the first Major of the year. It starts on May 31 and ends on June 20.
Interestingly, since Argentina is located in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are opposite to those in Europe. That means this “summer” Major will actually take place during the Argentine winter, making it one of two winter Majors in terms of local weather.
The dates for the expected Shanghai Major have not been officially announced because the tournament itself has not yet been confirmed. According to leaks, it will run from November 22 to December 12. That matches the schedule used in recent years. For example, the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 was held from November 30 to December 15. The second Major of 2027 is expected to follow a very similar timeline.
