Professionals wrong too: the game’s worst grenades

2228

Sometimes the community gets to enjoy truly spectacular new throws that pros or enthusiasts come up with. Some grenades, on the other hand, are ridiculously absurd. Today, the CS.MONEY Blog will talk about several grenade throws that not failed to do the team any good, but also hurt it big-time.

Adam “friberg” Friberg VS EnVyUs

Back in the spring of 2015, Adam Friberg showed that it’s not just rookies who can throw funny grenades. The Swede ‘misfired’ two times: first, his flash landed right under his ally’s feet instead of A Site, and a couple of seconds later, an HE nade flew into the back of teammate Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg. As a consequence, the club soon ended up in a 3-vs.-5 situation and failed to win the round.

Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar lost his winning game against CLG

Splyce player Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar won round 16 for his team in a game against CLG — all that was left was to defuse the bomb. Everything would’ve gone smoothly if it wasn’t for  the opponent’s barely noticeable Molotov that got in the way of the American. As a result, the player perished in flames and the round was lost. It’s pretty ironic that CLG then took advantage of the curious mistake, pulled themselves together, and won that match. Carelessness and an unexpected Molotov cost Splyce a victory.

Edouard “SmithZz” Dubourdeaux & his Molotov to fend off enemies

HellRaisers want to crush A Site on Cache with a straightforward advance through main. Richard “shox” Papillon fends off the enemy before the rush starts, bursting into the smoke and making two crucial frags. Edouard “SmithZz” Dubourdeaux tries to help shox by throwing a Molotov behind the loader (timecode 5:32) to keep the opponent out… But here comes shox, emerging out of the smoke and trying to go reload. Even though they won the round, it was a really curious situation.

Keith “NAF” Markovic and the corner of a barn

It’s not uncommon to see the following mistake: due to the opponent’s sudden appearance or a trivial haste, the player throws an HE not at the enemy, but at the wall nearest to him. That’s exactly what happened to Keith “NAF” Markovic (timecode 5:55). If you’re low on HP, a mistake like that can cost your character his life, and your team a whole round.

Based on these failures by pros, we can conclude: when using grenades, you should be guided by the “better safe than sorry” principle. Haste coupled with fuss leads to embarrassing mistakes.
