The CS:GO festival is about to begin! On October 4-9, fifty-two teams will compete for the twenty-four slots in the Rio Major. The RMR series is split into four separate tournaments. That’s why it would be interesting to look at possible changes in the map-pool meta across different regions.
Which maps are the favorites of most teams? Learn the answer by reading our article.
Asia
Asia is the easiest region to analyse simply because there are only four participating teams. Fun fact, though, is that every team hates different maps. Rare Atom doesn’t play Dust 2, Grayhound doesn’t like Overpass, IHC bans Vertigo, while JiJieHao International avoids Ancient.
If we look at their preferable maps, it is obvious that most action will occur on Inferno and Nuke. The third map will depend on the exact matchup. MR6.
Americas
One thing we can tell almost certainly: Vertigo won’t be a frequent guest. Seven of the sixteen RMR teams prefer to avoid it. Moreover, it’s worth mentioning that stronger teams tend to ban Mirage.
Speaking about the mainstream maps, with high probability, there’s going to be a lot of Nuke and Inferno. Dust 2 and Overpass are also quite popular, while Ancient would be the wild card of the current map pool.
Europe (Group A)
Looking at the most fierce competition in terms of skill, we see that Group A presents a very fluid meta. The teams prepare for almost everything. Nonetheless, we would often see Dust 2 and Nuke since they’re not hated by most of the squads. We can’t say the same about Inferno and Vertigo, though: both these maps are either popular or get first bans. Like in Americas, Ancient is some kind of a dark horse. It does not receive that much hate from teams, but it is not popular either (N0E). Maybe we will see some surprises there.
Europe (Group B)
The situation in Group B is different. Ancient is a clear first-ban favourite since six teams tend to do so. On the other hand, everyone plays Overpass, but we can’t call it a popular pick. It is quite probable that we would see it as a decider map. Across other maps, it’s even for all.
As for popular maps, we would most likely see lots of Dust 2, Inferno, and Nuke. Most teams successfully execute these maps, and there are no obvious reasons for a surprising meta shift.
However, there is still a possibility that the meta of this RMR would bring something unexpected. Every single participating team can change the game.
