If you ask any newbie about the difference between them and professional players, most will mention shooting. While we understand that it’s not just about quick aiming, sometimes the fate of a game can indeed depend on a single successful or unsuccessful shot. Today, CS.MONEY Blog will tell you what CS2 aim training consists of and what aspects you can work on.

Remember, it’s more enjoyable to spend time in the game when you have eye-pleasing skins. You can buy them at low prices without unnecessary hassle on CS.MONEY.

Don’t Confuse Warm-Up and Aim Training!

Rule number zero seems quite obvious, but many players still fail on it. There is a fundamental difference between warm-up and aim training. The warm-up is to get yourself into combat mode quickly. It lasts a maximum of half an hour, and during this time, you won’t learn anything new but will just regain confidence and recall what it’s like to shoot after a long break (be it sleep or a day off).

Aim training is a separate, purposeful activity that should last around an hour. Approach it seriously. Fortunately, there are many aspects to work on, so this routine won’t be too boring.

What Does Aim Consist of in CS2?

Before we move directly to practice, we need to understand the theory. In CS2, aim training consists of several components.

  • Flick Shots: The ability to quickly and accurately move the crosshair from one part of the screen to another. Top players have practised flick shots so well that they have become reflexes they don’t think about.
  • Mastering Shooting Techniques: This includes shooting single bullets, bursts of three to four bullets, and spray control for extended bursts, also known as “spray-n-pray”
  • Tracking and Counter-Strafing: Movement is life, and hitting a moving target is much harder. In CS2, there is a set of techniques that allow more effective shooting even when you need to move.
  • Crosshair Placement: This point should actually be on the top of the list. Counter-Strike is a game about catching the opponent off guard, not who can out-flick who. Your effectiveness increases significantly if you are ready for the opponent to come out from a specific passage.
  • Peeking and Pre-firing: In Counter-Strike, there is a peekers advantage, and there is no getting around it (although developers strive to minimize it). Given that the most effective positions on the map are well-known, preventive shooting can be fruitful. There are various techniques to increase your effectiveness when you are proactive.

Now that we have figured out the main components, let’s talk about how to improve them.

How to Train Aim in CS2?

Firstly, you should dedicate significant time to aiming, but it’s better if one hour of training is accompanied by three hours of active gameplay. This is because aim is important in Counter-Strike, but it’s not the only factor determining your skill.

Secondly, there are various training maps for almost every aspect mentioned above that will help you purposefully develop your skills.

How to Improve Spray Control?

Recoil Master – Spray Training will help you with this. The map intuitively shows you how to track your progress. Spray control is an important shooting technique and should not be underestimated. You can do several sets of 5-7 minutes, using different weapons in different sets (mainly AK-47 and M4A1-S/M4A4).

How to Improve One-Taps?

Another map by uLLeticaL, Aim Botz – Aim Training, will help us here. It is perhaps the most versatile tool for aim improvement. You can train here to shoot a single shot to the head, learn to aim faster, and even practice counter-strafing or simply track the heads of moving bots. This map has a wide range of possibilities, but don’t mix them all up.

What Could Be a Training Plan?

Spend a minute or two tracking a moving bot. You don’t shoot, but your task is to always keep the crosshair on the opponent’s head. You can also counter-strafe in front of a standing bot with the same goal: to have the bot’s head always in your crosshair during any movement.

The second exercise is to quickly move the crosshair from one bot to another. Here are two variants that need to be alternated:

  • Focus on the speed of your flicks, where accuracy doesn’t matter. The main thing is to teach your body to react and move the mouse as quickly as possible.
  • Focus on flick accuracy, where the goal is to aim precisely, even if it’s a bit slower.

After spending a couple of minutes on one type and then a couple of minutes on another, in later sets, you can complete the 100 bots kill quest for speed. Its results will allow you to track progress.

Finish by going to DM servers to practice your skills in more realistic conditions with less predictable enemies.

How to Improve Prefire?

The community has also created unique training maps for this. You can look at the training map pack from lmtlss or the prefire map pack from 5EPlay. The idea is simple: you go through a route where opponents are placed in common camping spots. You need to eliminate them with prefire, and the faster, the better. The maps have different difficulty levels, and you can track your progress by results.

If you approach aim training responsibly and spend about 45-60 minutes on it daily, you will see noticeable results over time. Remember: Counter-Strike is a game, and games exist to be enjoyed. Find pleasure even in this routine, and you’ll reach incredible heights!
