7 tips to defeat Na`Vi on Overpass

Natus Vincere is the most popular team in CIS and one of the most discussed in the world of CS:GO. Also, Na`Vi are incredibly strong.

Overpass at different times was a different map for Natus Vincere, but they always liked to play on it and felt more or less comfortable.

Today we will analyze in detail the game Natus Vincere on Overpass – highlight the features that you should pay attention to if you want to beat Na`Vi.

Let’s check out weakness and predictable patterns.

CT-side

Pistol round: heavy B-oriented

It’s no secret that a fast B-push on Overpass is a fairly popular tactic on pistol, weapon, and force… yeah, in general, in any type of rounds.

You can always catch your opponent by surprise or run into a random round of 3-4A setup.

Therefore, playing 2A-3B at the start of the round is considered the main default for defense on Overpass. But too much attention to B-site could be harmful.

So, out of the last three games, Natus Vincere played 2 times 1A-4B and 1 time 2A-3B.
Yes, this is not always critical (after all, with 4B aggression, you can collect information, take B-approaches, and give rotation to A), but in this case, Natus Vincere become vulnerable to fast A-site pushes.

I’d consider 5 fast long, or fast A-split with early mid take without connector (+couple of flashes).

Predictable Perfecto’s positions on B-site

The flexibility/inflexibility of the anchor is a rather controversial issue. It is often impossible to give a clear answer “what is good and what is bad”. A lot depends on the map, the site (A/B) and the specific player.

But in any case, attackers can use information on the positions of the anchor for approximate orientation.

Perfecto has 3 favorite positions, and everything can be successfully covered with grenades.

And given that Na`Vi like to play either a monster/bridge or double monster setups, this information can be much more valuable.

In General, a two-player setup under a monster is risky. It can bring you a won round, or you can lose the same round in 3 seconds. The fact that Natus Vincere play such setups under B indicates the confidence and comfort of B-site players.

Random fact: Na`Vi perform bad on forcebuy rounds

Over the last 3 games, Natus Vincere played 8 forcebut rounds, of which they won… Zero.

There is no consistency here: Na`Vi try to play flexibly, according to the situation, using completely different rounds but… It just doesn’t work. There is no success on forcebuys.

This is more of a general note that shows a global pattern.

Lack of A-site aggression

Interesting. Na`Vi have strong individual players who are confident in themselves. This makes it doubly surprising to observe that Natus Vincere often focus on B-site (and show aggression there), while forgetting about A.

Over the past three games, Na`Vi have only shown an active presence on mid and long a couple of times.

Natus Vincere don’t like to play 3A-setups

Another A-site note which is somehow connected with the last one mentioned above.

Over the past 3 games, Na`Vi have only started round 3A-2B in four weapon rounds (which is approximately ~17% of the total number of rounds).

In addition to this, Natus Vincere never played 4A-1B, and managed to start 1A-4B several times.

What does it mean? It’s simple: first of all, Natus Vincere is vulnerable to fast pushes of A-site, and secondly, against Na`Vi you should often use A-oriented defaults.

Taking into account the active presence of Na`Vi under B-site, there the attack is in any case waiting for either a fight at the beginning of the round, or, possibly, the subsequent knocking out of aggressive positions.

It is reasonable to push the other half of the map and force the defense to open and to do rotations (Natus Vincere are not very good at rotations on Overpass). CTs will get nervous.

For a team like Natus Vincere, this will be terribly unpleasant. The guys will start to worry more an more. The main thing is not to let them comeback to the game after a series of successful rounds.

T-side

With the Natus Vincere’s attack, it’s a little more difficult to work out, and I shortly found only two points that I can rely on.

Na`Vi don’t like to play fast

Perhaps you will say that this is an obvious fact. Many people know Natus Vincere love late-timings, but not everyone knows that on Overpass they almost completely ignores fast pushes.

Previously, they did not really exist at all, now – no more than 10% of all weapon rounds.

Natus Vincere hit B a lot

In combination with the pattern about the lack of fast play, this information will be very useful.

Natus Vincere on average finish 80-85% of their rounds at B-site, only occasionally resorting to A-executes.

Taking into account the slowness of the CIS-grand attack (the guys like to take up space slowly, step by step), the possibilities of early aggression are open for defense, and the emphasis can be safely placed on B-site.
You won’t make a mistake if you follow this note.
