Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has Operations. It’s a DLC, a massive pack of additional (some, time-limited) content. Each Operation Update introduced new maps, modes and skins. All Operations are made by the game developer, Valve. These updates help keep the game popular and alive. Players also get the opportunity to refresh emotions and impressions. CS.MONEY Blog presents a list of all Operations in CS:GO with dates and each case and collection an Operation provided.

How many operations have been released for CS:GO?

If you are wondering how many operations were released in CS:GO, here you go: eleven Operations in total. And now, let’s take a closer look at all Operations of CS:GO by release dates, from the first-ever Operation to the most recent one.

Operation Payback

Operation Payback
Operation Payback

The first-ever Operation in CS:GO. Initially launching on April 26, 2013 and scheduled to end on July 31, it was extended until August 2013. Operation Payback cost six dollars, bringing seven maps and a coin to the game. This Operation introduced four hostage rescue maps: Downtown, Motel, Museum, Thunder; and three maps with C4, namely: Favela; Library; Seaside.

Operation Payback Coin had three levels: bronze, silver and gold. It improved with time spent on Operation’s maps: silver coin required 10 hours of play, and gold coin needed 50 hours.

Operation Bravo

Operation Bravo began on 19 September 2013 and ended on 5 February 2014. It also introduced Bravo Case and Alpha Collection. You surely know AK-47 Fire Serpent from the former case, and now its price tag starts at $800.

The Operation added seven maps, and Valve as well released the Winter Offensive update during Bravo, which expanded the map pool to nine. Operation Bravo Maps with hostages: Agency; Siege. Operation Bravo Maps with C4: Ali; Cache; Chinatown; Gwalior; Ruins; Seaside; Cobblestone; Overpass.

Operation’s price didn’t change, and neither did the coin, except for the obvious Operation logo in the middle. Still, Valve shifted Operation’s progress a bit: now, to get a gold coin, it was enough to spend 30 hours, not 50.

Operation Phoenix

Released on February 20, 2014, running until June 11, Operation Phoenix added eight maps and an Operation Case to CS:GO. The Operation’s cost decreased to three dollars! Operation Phoenix Maps: Motel, Thunder, Agency, Downtown (hostages); Cache, Seaside, Ali, Favela (C4).

Operation Phoenix Case brought some iconic skins into the game. AWP Asiimov, AK-47 Redline, USP-S Guardian and MAC-10 Heat all packed into one case and immediately became community favourites.

Operation Breakout

CS:GO’s fourth Operation began on July 1, 2014, and lasted until October 2. The Operation cost six dollars. Valve added only six maps but as many as three collections and an Operation case.

But most importantly, the developers introduced Operation Journal in Operation Breakout and re-adjusted the coin progression system. Now, to improve the Operation Coin, you had to not only play Operation’s maps with ease but complete tasks from the journal: five completed quests unlocked a silver coin, and 15 got you a gold one.

Operation Breakout added two hostage maps, Rush and Insertion. And four C4 maps: Black Gold, Castle, Mist, and Overgrown.

And also three new collections: Baggage, Cobblestone and Overpass. Wait, what? Yes! AWP Dragon Lore didn’t exist before this Operation! As well as one of the most wanted M4A1-S skins, Cyrex. This skin came with the Operation Case. By the way, Operation Breakout was the first operation Valve didn’t extend.

Operation Vanguard

Operation Vanguard began on November 11, 2014, and lasted until the end of March 2014. The same price of six dollars, but the coin progress changed again. Now you had to earn stars instead of completing journal tasks. Seven new maps: Backalley, Workout (hostage), Bazaar, Facade, Marquis, Season, Train (C4).

However, Train wasn’t released with the Operation; it was added later. And we got to know AK-47 Wasteland Rebel, P2000 Fire Elemental, M4A1-S Basilisk и M4A4 Griffin thanks to Vanguard. By the way, the latter is related to the DMCA scandal: the original art was stolen and the developers had to redraw the skin.

Operation Bloodhound

Operation Bloodhound began on May 26, 2015, and ended on October 1, 2015. Operation cost $6. The Operation added six maps (Agency; Log, Rails, Resort, Season, Zoo) and six skin collections: Cobblestone, Overpass, Cache, Gods & Monsters, The Rising Sun and Chop Shop. Valve also introduced a new Falchion Knife in — guess what? — the Falchion Case.

Operation Bloodhound also added a new game mode: Guardian, with a unique separate map, Crashsite. Guardian mode is basically a single or cooperative PvE, where you have to face waves of enemies. As before, Operation Coin could be upgraded by earning stars.

Operation Bloodhound introduced these amazing skins:

Operation Wildfire

Started on February 17, 2016, and ended on July 15. Cost: six dollars. Operation Wildfire added seven maps: Cruise (hostage), Coast, Empire, Mikla, Royal, Santorini, and Tulip. Most importantly, Wildfire brought the updated version of Nuke! It also added Phoenix Compound to play in co-op. As always, a special dedicated case and a couple of collections: Cobblestone, Overpass, Cache, Gods & Monsters, The Rising Sun and Chop Shop.

Here are some famous skins from the Operation: AK-47 Fuel Injector, M4A4 The Battlestar, Desert Eagle Kumicho Dragon and AWP Elite Build.

Operation Hydra

Operation Hydra began on May 23, 2017, and lasted until November 13, 2017. The Operation update added seven maps and removed a couple from the game. Dust, Aztec, Vertigo, Militia and Shorttrain were deleted. Again, Valve changed operation coin progress with a whole new level added: players got the opportunity to earn a diamond coin. New maps: Agency, Insertion (Hostage); Austria, Black Gold, Lite, Shipped, Thrill (C4).

Rialto was added for the Guardian mode. And finally, the Operation brought Wingman and Flying Scoutsman modes to the game, which remained after Hydra ended.

As before, a new case appeared, and many collections returned for some time: Cobblestone, Overpass, Cache, Gods & Monsters, The Rising Sun and Chop Shop. This Operation introduced AK-47 Orbit Mk01, M4A4 Hellfire and AWP Oni Taiji.

Operation Shattered Web

After a two-year hiatus, Valve released the next Operation. Shattered Web began on November 18, 2019, and lasted until March 30, 2020. Four new maps, a case and three collections appeared. In addition, the Operation added agents to CS:GO! But Operation’s Battle Pass price skyrocketed to $15! Shattered Web’s Maps: Studio (C4), Lunacy (Flying Scoutsman), Jungle (Danger Zone), Phoenix Facility (co-op).

Operation Shattered Web was the first one to introduce the Battle Pass. By earning stars, players could level up their Battle Passes, which, in turn, brought guaranteed rewards: skins, stickers, graffiti and agents.

Norse, Canals and St. Marc Collection first appeared, bringing AWP Gungnir, AWP The Prince and AK-47 Wild Lotus. As well as AWP Containment Breach, MAC-10 Stalker and Tec-9 Decimator.

Operation Broken Fang

Operation Broken Fang began on December 3, 2020, and ended on March 29, 2021. Again, with a Battle Pass worth $15. Eight maps, a case, three new collections, two new game modes, two sticker packs, a patch set, and graffiti.

New Maps:

  • Ancient, С4
  • Engage, С4
  • Apollo, hostages
  • Elysion, Wingman
  • Guard, Wingman
  • Frostbite, Danger Zone
  • Autumn Harvest, co-op
  • Cultivating Trouble, co-op

As in Operation Shattered Web, Battle Pass holders could earn stars and upgrade the Operation’s Coin. However, now everyone spent the stars wherever they wanted in the Operation Store. By spending 1 star, you could get a sticker, a skin from the new collection cost 4 stars, and a rare agent for 25 stars.

This Operation was remembered by skin lovers for the following beauties: M4A1-S Printstream, Glock-18 Neo-Noir, M4A4 Cyber Security, AK-47 X-Ray, M4A1-S Welcome to the Jungle, AK-47 Panthera onca, AWP Fade and M4A1-S Blue Phosphor.

Operation Riptide

Operation Riptide
Operation Riptide

Last CS:GO Operation. Started September 21, 2021, and conducted until February 21, 2022. Battle Pass for $15. Five new maps: Basalt (C4), Insertion II (hostage), Ravine (Wingman), Extraction (Wingman), and County (Danger Zone).

As always, Operation Riptide introduced a new dedicated case and four collections: 2021 Train, 2021 Dust II, 2021 Mirage and 2021 Vertigo. Indeed, some new agents, two sticker packs and a patch pack. And again, you could earn stars and exchange them for stickers, skins or agents.

Here’s what Operation Riptide brought: Desert Eagle Ocean Drive, Glock-18 Snack Attack, Glock-18 Gamma Doppler, AWP Desert Hydra, Desert Eagle Fennec Fox, AK-47 Gold Arabesque and M4A1-S Imminent Danger.

What is the last/most recent Operation in CSGO?

The last/most recent Operation in CS:GO was released in September 2021. It was Operation Riptide.

It went on until February 2022. The Operation brought a ton of content: four new skin collections, a new set of agents, stickers, and patches. Valve established a reasonably high price for it, though: $14.99.

How much does an Operation’s Battle Pass cost in CSGO?

Players had to purchase Battle Passes that gave access to Operation if they wanted to participate in its activities and receive skins, cases, etc. Moreover, Valve increased Operations’ cost over time: the original price was $5.99, then it was reduced to $2.99, and the latest was $14.99.

After purchasing a Battle Pass, a CS:GO player received access to a whole bunch of goodies: new maps, exclusive weapon skins, missions and rewards, co-op adventures, and a special unique coin to flex before friends.

Operation Skins are valuable because they are exclusive. When an Operation ends, you can’t get more cases related to a specific Battle Pass. Only craft skins or trade them. And because of this, the price of Operation skins is very high. For example, AWP Gungnir costs around $10,000, while an AK-47 X-Ray can cost over $3,000.

By the way, skins from Operations (and not only) can be purchased at CS.MONEY. Our filter system will help you because it can sort skins by collections. For example, you can select only skins from the 2021 Vertigo Collection from Operation Riptide. Fast and handy.

CS2 Operations

First, we do not know yet when CS2 will be released exactly. Maybe, at the end of the year, maybe not. That is, not the BETA, but the 1.0 version. So, when Operations will be released in CS2 is also not known. Valve has not yet announced the release dates of new Operations.

However, it is worth noting that the devs regularly release patches for CS2. Valve not only fix bugs but also fill the game with new features. It is possible that after the official full-fledged release the pace of work will continue and we will soon be able to play the first operation for CS2.
