In Counter-Strike 2, most skins come from cases. But where do these cases come from? The answer is: weekly drops. The CS.MONEY Blog explains how weekly drops work in CS2 and what you can get from them.

If you have extra skins, sell them on CS.MONEY! You’ll be able to withdraw cash, which is always good.

To get a weekly drop, you need to meet a few conditions:

  • Have a Prime account
  • Earn experience and level up
  • Have the drop feature active

Each drop offers you four items. However, you can take only two:

  • case or terminal
  • skins
  • graffiti
  • charm detachment tool

The window with weekly drop appears after you level up. Also, you can claim items in the in-game Store section.

You get XP at the end of every match on official Valve servers, no matter what game mode you play. The easiest way to earn XP is by playing Competitive or Premier mode. With just 3 to 5 matches, you can usually level up enough.

Bonus XP helps speed up the process. It resets every week and doesn’t carry over. So if you want to level up fast, make sure to play regularly. Also, weekly missions can give a little boost in XP.

In CS2, you get one weekly drop. If you didn’t earn enough XP for a drop before the reset — you don’t lose your XP, but you won’t get a drop either. And if you already got your drop this week, then no matter how much you play or how much XP you earn, you won’t get another one until the next reset. Also, levels don’t carry over to future weeks. So you can’t grind 40 levels in one month and save up drops for the rest of the year.

The reset occurs each week on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. As soon as the weekly drop timer resets, the first level up brings the weekly care package.

Weekly drops can include skins, cases, terminals, graffiti, sticker capsules, and a tool to remove a weapon charm. Every drop always contains at least one skin and one case.

Did you know, that in the early CS:GO days you could get AWP Dragon Lore as a drop? Now, it is impossible. The drop pool is limited to five collections:

  • Harlequin
  • Achroma
  • Ascent
  • Boreal
  • Radiant

You can get skins of any rarity or wear level. For example, one lucky playergot a skin with the lowest float ever from a weekly drop — it was valued at around $45,000!

Currently, there are three cases and two terminals in the drop pool:

  • Dead Hand terminal
  • Genesis Terminal
  • Kilowatt Case
  • Revolution Case
  • Dreams & Nightmares Case

Important: rare cases are no more in weekly drop. Valve is seemingly removing cases at all, replacing them with terminals.

You can also get graffiti or charm detachment tool. They are very cheap, their use is limited, so generally there is little sense in claiming them. However, in case of very cheap skins in the drop, check the graffiti out. Maybe it will get you a couple of cents more.

The short answer — take whatever works best for you. Most players go for the case and the skin, since they’re usually the most valuable items. But some prefer graffiti or even the tool for removing charms.

Our advice? Always check your drop carefully. Who knows — you might be the next one to pull a crazy skin with the lowest float!
