What are Cases in Counter-Strike 2?

A case is an item in CS2. By opening it using a special key (additionally bought for $2.50 through the in-game shop), the player receives one skin, which is randomly selected and dropped from the case’s contents. Usually, cases in CS2 have 15-18 skins for weapons and rare items, knives and gloves. The cost of skins is determined according to the laws of the Market: rare and wanted items can cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars, while the most common ones can hardly sell for a buck.

How to Get Cases in CS2?

There are several ways to get cases in CS2:

  • Level Up. Once a week, when leveling up, players can choose to get two out of four random items, among which there will definitely be one case.
  • Buy or Trade. Cases are just the usual items as skins or agents. Therefore, they can be bought or sold from other player or on trading platforms like CS.MONEY.
  • Exchange for Tokens. During the Major, you can get several Souvenir Cases by purchasing a Viewer Pass and exchanging special tokens you get for it.

The most common option is, of course, receiving cases in CS2 when you level up. To do this, it is enough to play several matches a week, about 4 or 5.

What Cases Drop in CS2?

Counter-Strike 2 has only about fifty regular, non-souvenir cases. All of them are in the pool of items that can be obtained by leveling up.

Note that CS2 has six cases that cannot be obtained in Weekly Drops. Here they are:

  • Operation Riptide Case
  • Operation Broken Fang Case
  • Shattered Web Case
  • eSports 2014 Summer Case
  • eSports 2013 Winter Case
  • eSports 2013 Case

Also, the Weeky Pool doesn’t have souvenir cases or X-Ray P250 Package. The latter is a special case that contains only one skin. It’s a whole separate story to tell.

Chance of Cases Dropping in CS2

All cases that drop when you level up can be divided into two groups: Regular and Rare. People tend to believe that the chance of getting a Rare Case is approximately 1 in 100. In other words, for every 99 cases from the Regular pool, 1 from will be Rare.

Regular Cases:

  • Fracture Case
  • Dreams & Nightmares Case
  • Recoil case
  • Revolution case
  • Kilowatt case

Rare Cases:

  • CSGO Weapon Case
  • Operation Bravo Case
  • CSGO Weapon Case 2
  • Winter Offensive Weapon Case
  • CSGO Weapon Case 3
  • Operation Phoenix Weapon Case
  • Huntsman Weapon Case

What Cases are Worth Opening in CS2?

Case Openening is tricky. To profit from opening a case, you need to get at least a Restricted Skin. In other words, on average, only one case out of five will get you money. Why? Because the chance of receiving a skin of the lowest rarity when opening a case is 80%, which means that with an 80% probability the case will be unprofitable. Therefore, the short answer to the question of which cases should be opened in CS2 is none.

The Most Profitable Case in CS2

If you still decide to try your luck, pay attention to Chroma Cases, as they contain expensive knives. You can also open Shadow Case, Spectrum Case or Operation Cases. Most of them have rare skins lying around and they can cost hundreds of dollars.

To summarize, a case is a CS2 item. To open it you need a key that costs $2.50. After that, a random skin appears in your inventory, most often cheaper than $2.

But you can avoid this randomness if you want a specific skin. Just go and buy them cheaper than on Steam! For example, on CS.MONEY. We have both common and rare skins, your purchases are automated: our bots deliver skins in an instant. Go and join now!
