Today is Friday, and it’s a great time for a lighthearted mood and casual topics. Today, CS.MONEY Blog will not talk about the nuances of Counter-Strike as we usually do but will instead discuss a game that is currently at the top of Steam’s wishlist and will soon be on the computers and consoles of many players. We will talk about the Black Myth: Wukong.
Just a reminder that skins for CS2, if you play it, are worth buying cheaper than Steam and you can do it on our trading platform. CS.MONEY promises reliable and fast deals, low prices and a convenient filter system!
What Black Myth: Wukong is about?
Black Myth: Wukong is a single-player RPG game, which many classify as a souls-like (though the developers do not fully agree with this assessment). The main source of inspiration was one of the pillars of classic Chinese literature, “Journey to the West.” The main character is a monkey with the nickname The Destined One, though the title of the game and the character’s features strongly refer to Sun Wukong.
Who is Sun Wukong, and why is he often found in games?
Veteran gamers will say that Sun Wukong is often found in various games. He can be seen in Dota 2 (Monkey King) and League of Legends (Wukong), although the competition between these games would preclude even remotely similar characters. He can be found in Warframe, Honor of Kings, and even Civilization VI, but he is not very well-known to us.
The thing is, Sun Wukong is a literary character, but he is likely based on a religious figure. There is a theory that the prototype of Wukong was the Indian monkey god Hanuman. However, it’s not just about religion: Sun Wukong has taken on the role of a trickster in Eastern culture. In the West, we might think of Loki or Till Eulenspiegel. Add to this various magical abilities (Sun Wukong mastered the technique of 72 transformations), and we have a ready-made, very cool, and interesting character.
Moreover, “Journey to the West” provides plenty of room for imagination. In the story, Sun Wukong often opposes shapeshifters, and the various intriguing episodes provide ample material for game developers. If people could turn the story of Pinocchio into the game Lies of P, then this task is much simpler.
Features of Black Myth: Wukong
Although the developers do not like the souls-like label for Black Myth: Wukong, many details suggest it is quite fitting. Firstly, the game will not have a difficulty selection option. This ties Black Myth: Wukong to games from FromSoftware. Secondly, a look at the gameplay reveals several similarities. The main character has several abilities drawn from “Journey to the West,” providing interesting skills such as extending staff or transforming into other creatures.
Additionally, Black Myth: Wukong is expected to have cool cinematic cutscenes, somewhat linking the game to the likes of God of War. Ideally, we will get a souls-like game with fun mechanics and absolute cinema. Sounds hype.
System Requirements for Black Myth: Wukong
The system requirements for the PC version of Black Myth: Wukong are not outstanding compared to other large projects. After all, Black Myth: The Wukong graphic engine is Unreal Engine 5, which comes with its own features.
Minimum system requirements for Black Myth: Wukong (medium settings at 1920*1080 resolution):
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 1600 or Intel Core i5-8400
- GPU: Geforce 1060 or RX 580
- Graphics card memory: 6 GB
- RAM: 16 GB
- Hard drive: 130 GB (HDD is supported, but SSD is recommended)
- Operating system: Windows 10 or 11 (both 64-bit)
The minimum video card for the game will be an Nvidia Geforce 1060, and for Ultra quality with full ray tracing support, a 4080 SUPER will be required. It sounds pretty tough, but that’s the current meta of AAA projects. At least it will only take up 130 GB, not 300 like the latest Call of Duty.
When will Black Myth: Wukong be released?
Black Myth: Wukong will be released on August 20 for PlayStation 5 and PC. Xbox owners will have to wait, and it’s not about any exclusivity: the developers said that porting the game to Microsoft’s console will require significant resources, which have so far been allocated to preparing the game for release.
