The Austin Major is almost over, which probably means we’re getting a new competitive map pool soon. One of the top candidates to return is Cache. Today, the CS.MONEY Blog gives you five solid reasons why this map should make a comeback.

And hey — our mega skin giveaway is almost over too, but there’s still time to join! Click the banner and try your luck!
Cache is a well-balanced map

Let’s start with the basics: Cache is just a good map in terms of balance. According to HLTV stats, the T-side wins about 51.5% of rounds. In pistol rounds, it’s even more even — 50.9% win rate for Ts. There’s room for creative tactics and fast rotations. A map like that definitely won’t ruin the competitive pool.
Cache looks great

Cache is set near the Chernobyl power plant, and it has some really nice visuals — like the stained glass near A or the big open warehouse on B. The map is bright and open (unlike Train, for example), so there’s plenty to enjoy visually.
Cache could replace Inferno — and a lot of fans would be happy

When MOUZ and Team Spirit banned Inferno, the crowd pop was huge. People were really happy! Why? Because retaking B on Inferno is nearly impossible, and that leads to lots of boring save rounds. Watching that over and over isn’t fun, and fans were clearly bored. Cache doesn’t have that problem.
Cache could replace Mirage — and many would still be happy

Another map players want replaced is Mirage. This one’s more controversial, but the main reason is simple: people are just tired of it. Swapping Mirage out for one Major could refresh the pool. And since both maps offer lots of tactical options, Cache would be a solid stand-in.
A new Cache collection

And finally, if Cache comes back, we’d get a brand-new skin collection. That’s always exciting. We even found some awesome skin concepts in the Workshop that could make it into the game. One of them is made by FMPONE, the creator of Cache — so you know it fits the map’s vibe perfectly.
Valve hasn’t officially announced any map pool changes yet, but it’ll probably happen in the next few weeks. The second competitive season is almost over, and that’s the perfect time to shake things up.
