100 Thieves leaving CS:GO. Again.

The American team 100 Thieves has announced they’re leaving Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Again. CS.MONEY here to tell you how this team has managed to disband twice in three years.

First Time

100 Thieves was founded in 2016 by former OpTic Gaming player Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag. Its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive division was opened a year later. The team decided to act on a big scale right away and immediately hired the “ready-made” lineup of Immortals.

The five guys who signed contracts with the team had a slot for the Major. It looked like 100 Thieves were going to have a great start in their new discipline. But everything went wrong. With the contracts signed in early December, it was at the end of January that the team and the players parted ways.

The team started to fall apart when kNgV- was expelled from it. The latter used “offensive and inappropriate” expressions during an argument with Duncan “Thorin” Shields in Tweeter. This happened on January 25th.

A week later, on January 31, the remaining players of the line-up became free agents, and 100 Thieves management announced they were no longer working in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive direction. Among the stated reasons for the cancellation of contracts were difficulties with the lineup and visa-related problems.

Australian Lineup

No later than after two years, the team ventured to enter the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive pro-scene again. In October 2019, 100 Thieves hired a ready-made lineup again. This time, the team’s T-shirts were tried on by five former Renegades players.

Their cooperation continued until recently, when this lineup was disbanded on October 18. 100 Thieves lasted on the pro scene for almost a year and were able to achieve good results over this period.

Over this time, the team’s taken silver in ESL Pro League Season 12: North America and Intel Extreme Masters XV – New York Online: North America, bronze at DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: North America and featured in the top four teams at cs_summit 6 Online: North America.

Their victory in the Gamers Without Borders showmatch isn’t something to forget either. In the match, the team defeated Team Liquid in a best-of-three game, and rather confidently so. The map scores were 13:7 on Tuscan and 13:3 on Cache.

Since the foundation of the team, 100 Thieves have managed to earn almost $200,000. Not a bad result at all!

What’s Next?

The Australian team 100 Thieves was disbanded on October 18. All players were put up for transfer. Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, CEO of the organization, stated in his address that the main reason for this was the pandemic-related problems.

In the same address, Matthew noted that 100 Thieves weren’t leaving Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as an eSports discipline forever. On the contrary, the team will take a continued interest in the game, but now that the situation remains complicated and unpredictable, they’re unlikely to return.

100 Thieves is an example of those situations when circumstances win. The team tried to enter the river called Counter-Strike: Global Offensive twice and both times, they weren’t able to stay there for a long time. Is it possible that everything will work out for the third time? We’ll keep you posted, of course, but as of now we can only wish the guys good luck and a quick return to the game.

Now there is only one reminder of the team in the game: the stickers from the Major in Boston. They not only look cool but also have eye-watering prices, with even an ordinary sticker not cheaper than 25 bucks. Take a look at them — maybe this is your next successful investment?
