The biggest feature of this update is Cache returning to the game. This fan-favorite map is back, and the developers did an amazing job. You could say they carefully recreated the real-life city of Pripyat right inside Counter-Strike.

You can find tons of real-life objects on the map, like the memorial for the sarcophagus built over the fourth reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, or various props and decorations taken straight from photos. It feels like you are actually standing at the Pripyat bus station, looking at the houses, the Ferris wheel, and other iconic landmarks.

The attention to detail here is insane. Want an old Soviet soda machine? For 3 kopecks, you can get some Buratino syrup. There is even a poster in the vent room dedicated to the 1990 FIFA World Cup. It shows the real group stage with sloppily filled-in results. Some are real, some are fake, but it looks organic: like a very lazy person filled out the bracket.

There are a few funny mistakes, too. The text on the memorial we mentioned earlier is just like the original, except they used the letter Й instead of И everywhere. And on one of the drawings, you can spot some Lorem Ipsum placeholder text. But even these little things do not ruin the vibe at all: Cache in CS2 looks absolutely stunning!

One of the biggest complaints about FMPONE’s original version was the bad optimization: the FPS drops were brutal. Thour ran some tests, and in Valve’s version, the game pushes 22.5% more frames per second, and the frame drops aren’t nearly as bad. Great job, Valve!

Even though players know this map well, it will take some time to get used to all the differences. Still, people have already found a few major changes. First off, you no longer need to open the door to climb the boxes near A main, also known as Shroud. You can jump to a small ledge over number 04, then to the lamp, and finally onto the box itself.

Secondly, on that same A site, you can no longer wallbang the area behind the door. The grated windows block bullets now. fREQUENCY pointed this out. The spots on the map that you actually can shoot through are neatly marked with crosses.

It is also worth noting that you cannot blow up the door on A site with an HE grenade. Well, that is not exactly a change, just an important detail to remember. Finally, Valve’s version of Cache doesn’t have the iconic s1mple graffiti. Instead, there are just a couple of technical posters there.

Even though the update is a massive 5 gigabytes, there is almost nothing else to highlight besides Cache. There is only one exception, though. On Dust 2, they changed the box in middle, better known as Xbox. Now the ways to jump on top of it are more obvious.

No, for now the map is available in all main modes except Premier. It is highly likely this is just temporary. We are expecting changes to the competitive map pool after the IEM Cologne Major, and by then Cache will be even better and ready to replace one of the current maps.

armory cs2

No. But we are waiting for it, because the armory update should happen very soon. It is no coincidence that two skin collections and two sticker collections are marked as your last chance to buy them.
