Another month is coming to an end, and so we release another collection of the coolest skins from the Workshop. This time, it contains two retro-style skins and two oriental-style items at once. Let’s roll!
PP-Bizon Old Gumball Machine
PP-Bizon Old Gumball Machine isn’t just a beautiful skin (ugly ones are never part of this top) but also a perfect match for the weapon. The skin’s creator managed to highlight the low damage dealt by the gun by “stuffing” the magazine with gum and candy. No questions as to the creator’s creative potential at this point.
In addition to the successful metaphor, the skin captures the vibes of the era. Red color, an engraving against a metal background, scuffs — we have a complete set. This is probably the most successful PP-Bizon skin we’ve ever seen in the Workshop.
SG 553 KINTSUGI 金継ぎ
Kintsugi, or kintsukuroi, is the art of repairing ceramics with lacquer mixed with gold powder. The concept behind this kind of restoration is probably more curious than the way such items look. Those practicing kintsugi believe cracks to be an indispensable part of history, so instead of hiding them, they highlight the damage that’s been made to ceramics.
We loved SG 553 KINTSUGI 金継ぎ because it combines attention to detail with a mastery of technical execution. It’s not just SG 553 covered with gold cracks. The author went to the length of using normal maps, and the gun literally looks embossed. An incredibly cool skin.
Glock Frosty
At first glance, this skin is very simple — yet this is exactly what constitutes its beauty. The creator of Glock Frosty abandoned the usual “paint only the top part” layout, so common among skins for this attack pistol. Instead, Glock Frosty is completely covered with ice.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive could really do with a new simple skin for Glock. And Glock Frosty is an excellent candidate to be added to the in-game weapon assortment.
Desert Eagle Katana (Oni)
Beating a katana into a pistol isn’t a particularly trivial task. But the creator of Desert Eagle Katana (Oni) did cope with it extraordinarily well. The gun’s grip made to look like the handle of a katana unfailingly catches the eye. The creator of the skin really bothered to search for references. According to him, he had to mix several styles to create this handle.
The upper part of the gun looks a little pale. Its design represents the sharpening of the blade and because of that, the pattern is essentially executed in shades of gray. It’s an interesting design choice. The back part of the gun that the player sees in-game is decorated with a curious pattern. Contrariwise, the side edges, where stickers are applied, contain a simple pattern that won’t overlap with stickers. Interesting.
Dual Berettas Aqua
Another (partially) retro-style skin. The Berettas are painted like water pistols. Bright colors, contrasting elements, and even these indelible stickers — all of these say hi straight from the 90s. By the way, the gun itself is filled with water, which, unfortunately, isn’t very different in color from the rest of the body.
Dual Berettas Aqua is a wonderful example of a simple yet well-implemented idea. The design follows the usual patterns of Berettas as they look in the game, highlighting with color accents the cock, release trigger, and some of the gun’s other small details. The body is executed in a single color which contrasts with the grip. By no means will this pair of Berettas look like a black sheep in-game.
