New Trade-Up Rules
If you somehow missed the skin market storm, here’s the short version — last week Valve updated the trade-up system. Before, you could only trade weapon skins for rarer weapon skins. Now, you can trade five Covert skins for one rare drop — a knife or a pair of gloves.
But there are a few important details when it comes to gloves:
- Gloves don’t have StatTrak versions, so StatTrak skins can’t be used in glove trade-ups.
- The output item is now calculated using a new formula, so using “filler” Covert skins doesn’t make sense.
- Gloves are divided into three separate groups, which is very important when making trade-ups.
Now that you know the rules, let’s move on to the glove trade-up guide in CS2.
Glove Groups
There are three main groups of gloves in the game, each linked to specific cases. Every pair of gloves belongs to one group only.
First Group
The first group includes gloves from the Glove Case and Operation Hydra Case:

- Specialist Gloves Crimson Kimono;
- Specialist Gloves Foundation;
- Moto Gloves Cool Mint;

How to Trade-Up for Gloves
To get gloves, you need to select five Covert skins for the trade-up. Choose carefully, as mixing skins from different sources can completely change your outcome. If you want a specific pair of gloves, it’s usually better to just buy them directly on the CS.MONEY Market. But if you’re feeling lucky, pick five skins that can only result in gloves from one group. Let us remind you once again: StatTrak skins can’t be used in glove trade-ups.

Note that the minimum cost of such a trade-up is around $100 if you’re buying Covert skins. So if the gloves you want cost just a couple hundred dollars, it might be smarter to buy them directly. Each group has 24 glove pairs, so getting the exact pair you want on your first try is pure luck!
