In addition to the mentioned sticker with the scientist, other stickers also refer to the Half-Life series. Vortigaunt the Painter and Vortigaunt (Holo) depict Vortigaunts – aliens who initially invaded Earth and then became allies of humans in the sequel. Notably, Vortigaunt the Painter is a direct reference to artist Bob Ross, indicated by the easel and the “signature” hairstyle of the American artist.
The Big Hugs and Combine Helmet stickers depict common enemies – headcrabs and Civil Protection soldiers, respectively. The former are akin to facehuggers from the “Alien” films, while the latter are modified humans serving the aliens.
We’ve already shared the story behind the Greetings sticker, but the Gnome Mercy sticker has an equally meme-worthy background. During the playthrough of Half-Life 2: Episode Two, players could find a garden gnome. If you carried him through the entire game, you earned an achievement. The same achievement exists in Half-Life: Alyx, proving that a joke told twice is twice as funny.
Finally, the Health, Last Vance and Lambda stickers are directly related to the Half-Life: Alyx game. The Health sticker shows a game interface element, with hearts on the glove representing the heroine’s health reserve. Last Vance features a profile image of Alyx Vance, the main heroine. Lambda appears in the logos of the series’ games, including the Half-Life: Alyx logo, although it is inverted there.
