There are a lot of skins created by independent artists and published in the Workshop. Valve is in constant search for the best works to add them to new cases. Before being added to the game, the appearance of some skins may be slightly modified, but the most significant changes concern their names. In this article, CS.MONEY Blog have collected 5 interesting examples.
USP-S Monster Mashup
USP-S Monster Mashup was uploaded to the Workshop by Nextgenz, whose skins have been officially accepted to CS:GO multiple times.
The “Krokos” inscription on the silencer reminds of the skin’s original name related to the main element of the design, which is the weird image of a crocodile painted in a street art style.
Five-SeveN Fairy Tale
The Five-SeveN skin from the Broken Fang case was also among the renamed ones. It was added to the Workshop as “Girl’s Diary” as the entire body of the pistol is decorated with images similar to those painted on girls’ notebooks and diaries.
But the devs decided to change its name to “Fairy Tale”, which also perfectly reflects the design’s idea and doesn’t sound controversial.
XM1014 Entombed
After the release of the Anubis map, a large number of Egypt-themed skins appeared in the Workshop. The designer with the nickname Sparkwire did not stand aside and created his own masterpiece called “Gifts of the Nile”.
The developers of the game were obviously impressed by this design, but still they decided to change the name of the skin to “Entombed”.
Galil AR Connexion
Initially, this skin was named after the Heavy Phoenix character. It was his appearance that inspired VLEK and hexeth. The body of the rifle is decorated with minimalistic graffiti showing the logo of the oldest terrorist faction, and the cross on the handguard is taken from the soldier’s mask.
After being added to the Fracture case, the skin’s appearance remained unchanged, but its name was changed to Galil AR Connexion.
Glock-18 Bullet Queen
Glock-18 Shush was created by the well-known studio 2Minds. A pin up beauty gestures for silence, and this was the basis for the skin’s original name. The developers were delighted by this work yet changed its name to “Bullet Queen”. Why not? The funny bullets and the crown over the girl’s head make the new name quite relevant.
Sometimes Valve’s opinion regarding the skins’ names may differ from the creator’s ideas, and to some it may seem controversial, but we all agree – as you name the boat, so shall it float! Did you like this selection? We have more: plenty and for every taste!
