Skin history
SG 553 | Damascus Steel appeared in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Nov. 27, 2013. It’s contained in The Dust 2 Collection that includes 16 weapon finishes dedicated to the eponymous iconic map. It was introduced to the shooter in the massive “Out with the old, in with the new” update before the start of the 2013 DreamHack SteelSeries CS:GO Championship in Jönköping, Sweden.
Pattern features
The receiver, as well as the carbine’s muzzle, consists of steel, famous for its intricate pattern. This pattern is formed through the process of repeatedly reforging the product, and during this process, the carbon contained in the iron is unevenly distributed on the surface. To enhance the visual effect, the product is also treated with acid.
The rest of the weapon is a standard SG 553.
Effect of float
Float Value of this item can vary between 0.00 and 1.00, allowing it to be obtainable in any exterior quality category. As the weapon’s condition deteriorates, its surface noticeably darkens, becoming very black at high float values. No other wear marks are seen on the gun.
Rarity and popularity
SG 553 | Damascus Steel is categorized as the “Mil-Spec Grade” rarity and is available in souvenir versions. This skin is moderately popular among CS2 players.
