Ask 100 CS2 players what they love about the game, and you’ll get different answers. Valve’s shooter has a lot to offer, and today the CS.MONEY Blog will tell you everything about CS2 game modes.

One of the most fun parts of CS2 is the skins. You can upgrade your inventory quickly on our site!

We can’t decide for you. If you love competition, choose Premier. Want nonstop action? Go for Deathmatch. Like testing different weapons? Arms Race might be your thing. Each of the six main modes has its own pros and cons.

When we talk about CS2 game modes, we start with Premier matchmaking. This is the main ranked mode in the game — your skill is measured here. It feels like a real tournament: same rules, and even a map veto phase.

You should be fully prepared and know all seven maps in the active pool before jumping in. Set aside an hour to play, since tied games (12:12) go into six extra rounds.

Despite the name, CS2’s Competitive mode isn’t the main esports format. What’s the difference from Premier? There’s no overtime, no map veto. Instead, you pick your maps in advance, and your rating is shown per map. The pressure is lower, so it’s a good place to experiment.

Still, it’s a classic 5v5 match with serious vibes. Expect matches to last around 45 minutes.

This is perfect if you’re playing with one friend and don’t want to rely on other teammates. It’s a 2v2 mode with smaller maps and shorter rounds — a great mix of competitive play and chill shooting.

The game goes up to 16 rounds, so one match takes around 30 minutes. Great when you’re short on time.

Ten players per team on standard maps, with free armor and the ability to spectate anyone after you die. This mode is a CS classic, and it’s awesome that Valve kept it.

You won’t earn much XP here, so it’s best for relaxed, no-stress games. Matches last up to 20 minutes — quick and easy.

Many players use this mode to warm up or practice their aim. It’s simple: kill or be killed. Each kill gives you points, and every three kills earn you a syringe that heals 50 HP. If you die — no big deal — you respawn in 3 seconds and jump back into the action.

From time to time, a special weapon appears for 30 seconds. Kills with it give bonus points. Tip: don’t always chase these weapons — if it’s something like the R8 Revolver or Negev, you’re probably better off sticking to your usual gun. Matches last 10 minutes and are full of action.

This is probably the most unique mode in CS2. You don’t choose your weapon. You start with sniper rifles and level up after two kills per weapon. At level 16, you get a knife. Get one kill with it and you win, as the first player to reach level 17 ends the game. Matches usually take about 5 minutes and are played on special maps like Pool Day. Fast-paced and chaotic — this mode is pure fun.

No matter which mode you play, CS2 gets better with cool skins. You can buy your dream skin for a great price at CS.MONEY!
