BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2021 is one of the most anticipated tournaments of the fall. With the Group A matches now over, we have a surprise for you. The CS.MONEY Blog joined forces with analysts from SCOPE.GG to gather unique stats on the players — and is here to share them with you.
The most important Group A stats
Fastest fraggers & top aimers
Michał “MICHU” Müller of Evil Geniuses, a team that dropped out of the tournament, had the highest percentage of headshots (21.1%). Oddly enough, Astralis’ AWPer Lukas “Lucky” Chesteng is in second place with 20.2%. Team Liquid’s sniper Jonathan “EliGe” Jablonowski occupies third place with 19.4%.
Team Vitality performed in Group A with flying colors: the French didn’t lose a single match. Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut is in great shape. In terms of killtime, he had no equal in the group matches. On average, it took Mathieu 233 milliseconds to pick an opponent. Close behind him are Jacky “Stewie2k” Yip and Lucky with a killtime of 239 milliseconds.
Best entry fragger & teammate
The role of the entry fragger is crucial. Getting to the bombsite first or holding off an attack to preserve an advantage in numbers is a challenging task. In Group A of Blast Premier: Fall Groups 2021, Emil “Magisk” Reif coped with this role best. He made 46 entry frags in three matches with 54% duels won. EliGe won 57% of his duels, but achieved 15 fewer opening frags.
ZywOo isn’t just an amazing AWPer. On top of that, the Frenchman is a team player who’s always ready to help his team. Small wonder that he managed to trade teammates 27 times. Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen has the same number, by the way. But ZywOo played eight maps against Bubzkji’s ten. So Team Vitality’s sniper displayed a higher efficiency.
All about grenades
A good teammate isn’t just someone who makes timely trades. One well-placed flashbang can win an entire round. In Group A, Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo wins the “Best support” award. The Brazilian blinded 219 opponents. Lucky dazzled 207 enemies and took second place.
Lucky received a lot of negative comments after his matches. Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen even stood up for his teammate. But as you can see from the stats above, the negativity towards the 18-year-old Dane isn’t entirely justified. Lucky is really trying, and Blast Premier: Fall is only his second tournament with Astralis.
The more you try, the more you make mistakes. The more you use flashes, the more likely you are to blind your teammates. With that said, it’s not surprising that both Lucky and FalleN blinded the most teammates as well. The Dane threw 45 bad flashes, and FalleN has a little lower stat: 35.
Of course, the event also featured some ill-placed Molotovs. Imagine you prepared your signature nade, took aim, and made the throw, but there’s no fire: the Molotov hit smoke. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? It happens to professional players too. Molotovs thrown by FalleN, Stewie2k, and Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth were extinguished by smoke four times.
To throw flashbangs as accurately as FalleN and Lucky and to avoid mistakes like a Molotov bottle not releasing flames, check out our guides about key grenades on Dust 2, Mirage, Overpass, and Inferno.
Press F to inspect skins. Who admired their weapon finishes most often?
Almost all CS:GO players inspect their weapons: to catch their breath, to take a quick look at a beautiful skin, but most often simply out of habit. It may be incredibly difficult to resist when there’s a genuine work of art in your inventory. For example, the M4A4 The Emperor from our azure selection. But sometimes, looking at a skin at a bad time can play a cruel trick even on a pro.
Biggest skin fans & haters
Among Group A members, Xyp9x spent the longest time examining his weapon looks. He spent 2,198 seconds like that — that’s 36.5 minutes. He pressed the F key 2,776 times. Can we now dub Xyp9x the skin minister?
Lucky inspected skins a little less frequently: he spent 1,478 seconds admiring his possessions. That’s 24.5 minutes. Interestingly, the Dane examined weapons more than anyone else: 4,440 times. He probably just interrupted the animation.
Contrariwise, Bubzkji didn’t look at his devices at all. The Astralis player’s ability to withstand temptations can only be admired.
This approach might indeed make sense. Inspecting skins can sometimes result in a bad situation. Magisk, Xyp9x, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire, and Michael “Grim” Wince each died once during such an inspection. And Richard “shox” Papillon got fragged twice while he was distracted by his skins.
Bottom line: having nice skins is cool, but it’s safer to check them during freeze time 🙂
Team records at Blast
Astralis players pressed the inspection button 10,410 times — naturally, that’s mostly Xyp9x and Lucky’s effort. Team Vitality is in second place. The French hit F 9,444 times.
North American teams display a slightly simpler attitude to skins. Team Liquid players were distracted by gun designs 5,824 times, while Evil Geniuses clicked the button only 3,441 times. Yet this didn’t magically boost their performance. Both teams left the tournament, and Evil Geniuses failed to win a single map.
