Key nades on Vertigo: A Site

Our series of posts about key grenades on competitive maps is slowly coming to an end. There haven’t covered only two locations yet: Vertigo and Nuke. Today, the CS.MONEY Blog will show you the essential nades on Vertigo’s A Site.

Before you learn the grenades on Vertigo, we suggest that you check out our guide on the mechanics of nade throws in CS:GO. Spoiler alert: knowledge from this guide will come in handy as you familiarize yourself with this post.

Three key smokes on A

Let’s start with three key smokes that the Ts throw when entering A. Without them, capturing the site is a most onerous task. The great thing about these smokes is that they are all a piece of cake.

Let’s close the bombsite off, so we can plant the C4 without worrying overmuch. The first smoke will fly to the left side of the bombsite. Take position in front of the cement and aim at the intersection of the two iron tubes. Perform a jumpthrow.

The smoke at the right side of the bombsite is even easier to perform. You just have to go up the ramp and aim at about this area on the wall. No need to memorize the point of reference: the nade will go where it’s supposed to go.

The plant is now sealed off. However, the CTs can resort to yet another trick when holding off the Ts. Namely, they can get on the red box behind the bombsite. To prevent them from doing so, you need to cover this position with a cloud of smoke as well. To this end, stand facing the fence at the junction of the wood and concrete pavements and put your crosshair a bit to the right of the corner of the tallest building on the map.

Now, the CTs will have to wait for the smokes to fade — or burst into them with flashes.

Molotov on cement

CTs love taking the position behind the cement and engaging the Ts from there at the most unexpected moment with a teammate’s flashbang. That said, covering this position with a Molotov cocktail is absolutely necessary when entering A. It’s easy too.

Stand facing the fence and aim at the iron post. It’s okay if the crosshair’s a little higher or lower. Make a regular throw — and the position is on fire, providing with a potential easy frag in case there’s an opponent on this spot.

Molotov on lane

A is entered through the ramp and far ramp. To drive the CTs to the bombsite, you can throw a Molotov at the far ramp, where an enemy may be standing around the corner or an AWPer may be lurking.

Stand facing the cement near the rise, then aim at the edge of the lattice roof as shown in the picture. The Molotov is sure to drive that defense player away. By the way, you can alternatively throw a HE grenade from the same position in like manner.

Molotov on ramp

If the Ts often practice quick A rushes, the CTs can throw a Molotov at the ramp to prevent another rush and give the teammates time to stack the defenses.

Just jump onto the base of the crane and aim a little above the bottom edge of the yellow pad.

In the same way, you can throw an instant flash, enabling your teammate to pick the ramp. You can throw it as soon as the fire stops burning.

One-way CT smoke

To fend off Ts at A, especially with an AWP, you can utilize the one-way smoke. Stand in the corner at the exit from the plant site, aim at the correct area on the crane, and make a regular throw.

You can throw the one-way smoke either when the Ts start using their utilities or at any other point in the round.

So we’ve covered the key grenades on Vertigo around A Site for both Ts and CTs. We hope that this knowledge will help you in matchmaking games and on other platforms. Read our guides on nades for other maps and stay tuned to the CS.MONEY Blog.
